The villa is within walking distance of the bustling town of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, just 11 miles south of Florence, making the villa well located for sightseeing too. Surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, the spacious gardens provide the ideal space for relaxation by the private swimming pool or al fresco dining. Podere La Corte has been renovated to the highest standards, offering antique furnishings, opulent fabrics and air-conditioning throughout, yet maintaining many original features such as a working bread oven, open fireplace and converted pigeon loft. The result is a luxurious retreat that maintains its authentic Tuscan charm.
Podere La Corte Accommodations
Lower Ground floor: A separate entrance from the main villa accesses two renovated bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.
Ground floor: Enter through a small entrance hall with guest bathroom and original terracotta floor tiles throughout.
Mezzanine: up a few stairs to traditional kitchen featuring all modern amenities, but retaining old fireplace, kitchen table and bread oven, still in perfect working order; steps lead down from the kitchen into the beautiful, blue dining room featuring a large, wooden dining table and a French door out to gardens and the pool area; through the kitchen you reach a small storage space with a huge, old granite sink; a few stairs lead to a small double room with en-suite bathroom, suitable for an older child or nanny. Note: Please be aware that there is no railing on the stairs that connect the living room with the kitchen.
Second floor: Up flight of stairs to central living room with exposed wooden beams (this was once the stanza buia, or the dark food storage room, which has been imaginatively converted into a light and attractive sitting room off which all 4 main bedrooms may be reached; master bedroom with queen bed, private sitting room in converted pigeon loft and delightful private loggia with views back towards the wine estate; further queen bedroom and two twin bedrooms, all sumptuously furnished with fine traditional beds, antique wooden furniture, luxurious bedspreads and rugs and exposed beams; four en-suite facilities, three with bath and one with shower.
