Anyone who ever attended a small village schoolhouse will enter La Scuola with an expression of disbelief. Few would imagine that the institutional halls of a 6-room village schoolhouse, designed in the 1960s, could be converted so inventively into this contemporary private residence. The adaptation of La Scuola is the work of a noted English designer who created a chic retreat for up to 12 adult friends.

After passing under the school's original flag and through the wide front door, you will find yourself before a long, high- ceiling hallway which runs through the house like an elegant nave. Almost immediately, your gaze will turn to the spacious living/dining rooms centered on an imposing modern fireplace. It's hard to imagine this was once the staff meeting room! However, La Scuola's real focal point is its U-shaped courtyard and swimming pool with a long covered "loggia" which protects the terrace from the midday Tuscan sun.

Sleeps up to 12 adults. Master bedroom (king size bed 71"w) with full en suite (including oversized sunken bathtub). Bedrooms 2 through 6 all have en suite bathrooms (sink, WC, bathtub) and differ only in their individual décor and beds (3 have twin double beds 56"w; 3 have king beds 71"w.) Staff room off of kitchen not available to guests.

Large, high-ceiling living and dining area features comfortable sofas and chairs, two dining tables, fireplace, flat screen TV and state-of-the-art stereo and sound system.

Terraces and gardens surround the courtyard swimming pool (approx. 40'x 20') with covered dining and sitting areas with teak chaise lounges.

Flat screen TV with satellite, DVD, CD/stereo, fax. Fully-equipped kitchen. Washer & dryer. House cook and staff.
