Back when Florence and Siena were warring city-states, Torre della Guardia was a lookout post in the front-line defenses between the two rivals. Though only fragments of the 7thC "watch tower" remain, the vistas across the Chianti countryside are as remarkable as ever. In the distance, admire the towers of Siena and San Gimignano, while nearby, discover the renowned wine villages of Chianti. Even Pisa, Lucca, and Volterra are day trips.

While the villa's historic character and fine décor will charm, you'll also appreciate the many hotel-quality details - generous, comfortable beds, fine linens, and sparkling white bathrooms - even high-speed Internet access and air conditioning throughout. A convivial, modern kitchen adjoins the high-ceilinged dining room; the elegant main living room opens to broad terraces. The estate has a working vineyard and olive groves, a large swimming pool and, best of all, breathtaking views - perfect excuses to just stay close to home.

Sleeps up to 20 guests in ten bedrooms, all with Queen-sized beds (68") or Twin beds (34", which can be combined as Queens). All but two bedrooms have private bathrooms. Ground floor: one bedroom, with private bathroom (with tub). Second floor: seven bedrooms divided among three suites; six bathrooms (three with showers, three with tubs); bedrooms 3&4 share one bathroom. Third floor: two-bedroom suite with two bathrooms (one with tub, one with shower). Kitchenettes in each suite. Three bedrooms have direct access to outside. (A smaller configuration of 7 bedrooms is possible for groups of up to 14 guests.).

Various living rooms throughout the house, many with fireplaces & private terraces. Large main living room. Central, open-plan kitchen; main dining room with seating for 24. A new refurbished heated and air conditioned meeting/reception area in the underground garage area for parties, meetings, kids' games, fitted with a PC and presentation equipment.
