A unique opportunity to explore Thailand's rural heartland along the Chao Phraya River on board a traditional teak rice barge. Leave Bangkok behind as the river weaves through the Central Plains and discover a region of Thailand that is rarely visited by tourists.

3 Day Cruise
Enjoy a different and leisurely view of Thailand aboard a converted Rice Barge which holds a maximum of 12 passengers.
Day 1. Depart Bangkok. You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel and transferred to the pier to board the "Thanatharee" at 8:30 am.
Sail up the Chao Phraya River to Ko Kred to visit a pottery making village before continuing to the lively Pathum Thani market. With bicycles on board, frequent stops are made along the way to explore the countryside and observe the way of life and culture of the rural Thai people. There will be opportunities to see the traditional handicrafts still produced in these areas and meet with the local people, in a world far removed from the usual tourist haunts. ave lunch then sail to Wat Pailom and Maenum Noi, a small village where you will tie up for the evening. Dinner on board. LD
Day 2. Maenum Noi/Pamok. An opportunity to give food to the monks on their morning alms round and then cycling to explore the villages with opportunities to talk to school kids, old folks or farmers then rejoin the barge for total relaxation. Those who wish to learn the secret of Thai cuisine are always welcome to join our crew for meal preparation. After lunch, set off by bicycle to visit more local villages. Rejoin the barge at Wat Kophai and continue to Bang Sadej.
Visit by bicycle the famous temple and a local orphanage where mainly hill tribe children receive an education. Later depart for Pamok for overnight on board with dinner. BLD
Day 3. Pamok/Ayuthaya/Bangkok. Visit the morning market in Pamok and the local school. Also visit a local family which makes drums. Then depart for Ayuthaya, Thailand's former capital and a UNESCO Heritage site. Later disembark and transfer to back by road to Bangkok arriving in the late afternoon. B

Day 1. Bangkok/Ayuthaya/Maenam Noi. You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel and driven to Ayuthaya, Thailand's ancient capital where you will board the "Thanatharee" Cruise to Wat Phutthai Sawan where you will begin a cycle ride through the local villages. Rejoin the barge and sail to Maenum Noi for overnight and dinner on board. D
Day 2. Maenum Noi/Bangkok. Cruise this morning to Wat Pailom and Pathum Thani with lunch on board. Visit the lively market at Pathum Thani after which, visit the island of Ko Kred and explore the pottery making village. Rejoin the Rice Barge and cruise to Bangkok arriving in the late afternoon. B L

Departures
The 3 day cruise departs every Saturday and Wednesday (the Wednesday itinerary is in reverse). The 2 day cruise departs every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The itinerary may vary slightly according to the day of the week.
Price Includes
Accommodation on board the Rice Barge in an air-conditioned cabin, meals as indicated by BLD, all outlined sightseeing and transfers between your hotel in Bangkok and the Wat Chalerm Phra Kiat Pier in Bangkok. (Price does not include transfer from Ayuthaya to Bangkok and vv.)

Thanatharee RICE BARGE
The barge, named “Thanatharee” or Treasure on the Water, is 21.1 metres in length and 5.9 metres in width. It provides simple but comfortable air-conditioned, multi-share accommodation with on-board shower and toilets. The maximum capacity is 12 passengers.
The spacious upper deck has ample room to relax, enjoy a refreshing drink, read, play games or just watch the world drifting gently by. There is also a sun deck for anyone wanting to work on their tans. Meals will be served on board, and everyone is welcome to help in the cooking and learn something about the art of Thai cooking. One may also accompany the cook to the local market and shops for the day's ingredients.
The bedroom area is divided into two sections by a curtain. There is one common bathroom and one toilet on the main deck and one more toilet on the upper deck.
