New for 2009, charming 'Elisabeth' is the perfect barge for families. She cruises the meandering Canal du Nivernais in summer - and offers delicious chocolate and wine cruises, complete with tempting tastings and delectable dessert-making demonstrations, on the Burgundy Canal in spring and autumn.
In 2010, 'Elisabeth' cruises exclusively in the Burgundy region on a lovely route between Tanlay and Pouillenay. All cruises offer the gourmet chocolate creations of the 2009 "Wine & Chocolate" departures - and include a visit to the village of Flavigny, where the 2000 film Chocolat was made. Cruises depart on Saturdays from Apr 3 through Oct 23. The 2009 pricing applies to 2010 reservations, so contact now to confirm the most popular dates.

Day 1
Meet in Paris for transfer to Auxerre where 'Elisabeth' and a champagne reception await, followed by dinner on board. 'Elisabeth' Barge D
Day 2
Enjoy a tour of Auxerre with its narrow streets and beautiful Cathédrale St-Étienne, and a tasting of the local wine-based crèmes along the way. The afternoon cruise to Vincelles affords good walking and cycling opportunities along the towpath.'Elisabeth' Barge B L D
Day 3
Cruise to the charming port of Vermenton today, with afternoon wine tastings in the 11th-century cellars of the Melin Family at Irancy and in the town of Chablis.'Elisabeth' Barge B L D
Day 4
Visit the Grottes d'Arcy today, a fascinating Stone Age shelter with numerous cave paintings from the Neolithic and Mesolithic periods. Then, cruise to Mailly-le-Château for a pre-dinner walk through the village. 'Elisabeth' Barge B L D
Day 5
Cruise to the pretty town of Lucy-sur-Yonne before visiting the walled city of Vézelay with its magnificent hilltop Basilique Ste-Madeleine dating from the 11th century. The afternoon is at leisure for strolling the cobblestoned streets that are lined with old houses and shops before returning to 'Elisabeth' and another delicious dinner on board. Day 6
After cruising to Clamecy, visit Château de Bazoches, residence of Maréchal de Vauban and worthy candidate for listing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
