Day 2 : On the Canal du Loing this morning, begin the ascent of the locks leading to the summit level of the canal. Visit Château Vaux-le- Vicomte, setting for the film The Man in the Iron Mask. The exquisite gardens, designed by landscape architect André le Nôtre, have been fully restored to their original beauty. Tonight's mooring is in the town of Nemours.
Day 3 : After a morning cruise, enjoy lunch at an idyllic setting at Beau Moulins. Then visit Moret-sur-Loing, a favorite of Impressionist painter Alfred Sisley, for a guided walk of the fortified medieval city. End the day's cruising at the quiet hamlet of Nargis.
Day 4 : Today's excursion is the hilltop town of Château-Landon to explore this classic city by horse-drawn carriage. After lunch, cruise to the waterside village of Cepoy.
Day 5 : 'La Bonne Humeur' joins the Canal de Briare at Montargis, with its delightful flower-bedecked bridges and network of miniature canals. There is time to browse in the shops or simply relax in a café. Then cruise to Montbouy, one of the Canal's prettiest villages, to moor in the shadow of the 12th-century church.
Day 6 : Early risers can accompany the chef to a farmers' market to collect fresh produce for this evening's farewell dinner. Later in the day, cruise to Rogny-les-Sept-Écluses with its unique staircase of seven locks. After a visit to Château de la Bussière for a private wine tasting, return to the barge for a farewell celebration dinner.
