Itinerary
Day 1: Meet at Hotel Le Parc in Paris at 2:00 pm and travel by private vehicle to the peaceful village of Châtillon-sur-Loire to board 'Le Bon Vivant.' After a welcome reception, enjoy a short cruise before dinner.
Day 2: From Châtillon-sur-Loire, cruise across the splendid aqueduct over the River Loire to Ouzouer-sur-Trézée, with its gothic church and picturesque wooden houses. Possible excursions include la Charité-sur-Loire with its ancient 11th-century abbey and a wine tasting of the famous Pouilly-Fumé.
Day 3: Cruise to Rogny-les-Sept-Écluses to moor at the foot of the staircase of seven locks, an impressive monument to engineering of the past. Possible excursions include Briare with its porcelain buttons museum and a private cellar visit at the charming village of Sancerre.
Day 4: 'Le Bon Vivant' makes its way to Châtillon Coligny today, where the 12th-century château overlooks the town. Possible excursions include the town of Gien, known for its lovely earthenware, and Château de St-Fargeau, built during the Renaissance on the site of a 10th century fortress.
Day 5: After breakfast, cruise to Montbouy, an old Gallo-Roman town. Possible excursions include the beautiful Château de la Bussière, a private castle standing in the middle of a lake, and the Arboretum des Barres with its more than 10,000 tree specimens.
Day 6: Cruise to Montargis by way of Amilly. Possible excursions include the Impressionist villages of Barbizon and Moret-sur-Loing, and Château de Fontainebleau, the magnificent royal residence dating from the 12th century.
Day 7: Transfer by private vehicle back to Hotel Le Parc in Paris this morning.
Note: This route is run in reverse on alternate weeks.
