'L'IMPRESSIONNISTE' cruises a delightful stretch of water between Avignon and Agde in the south of France. This lovely barge features an on-deck pool, as well as beautifully-appointed cabins.
Itinerary
 Day 1:
Transfer from the Hotel Mercure des Papes to 'L'Impressionniste,' moored on the left bank of the River Rhône at Avignon, for a champagne welcome.
Day 2:
In Avignon, visit the Palais des Papes. After a stroll though the vibrant shopping district, return to the barge for lunch. In the afternoon, cruise the mighty River Rhône to Arles, passing the immense citadel of King René at Tarascon and the foothills of the Alpilles.
Day 3:
Explore Arles, with stops at the Roman theatre, St-Trophime and the Museum of Provençal Life. Then visit some of Vincent Van Gogh's haunts on a walking tour through the heart of this old capital of the Camargue. Later today, moor at Aigues-Mortes and dine ashore at a local auberge.
Day 4:
Stroll from your mooring outside the town walls to the Tour de Constance, built in the 13th century by Louis IX. This afternoon, cruise through Camargue National Park with its wild horses, black bulls and pink flamingoes to the hamlet of Les Aresquiers.
Day 5:
Cruise to Sète to visit the town and its thriving fish market. Then, sail onto the Etang de Thau, a large inland saltwater lake, to the beautiful port of Marseillan. Before dinner on board this evening, enjoy wine tasting at a local Languedoc vineyard.
Day 6:
Today, tour the cellars and distillery of the manufacturers of the world-famous apéritif, Noilly Prat, followed by a tasting. Then cruise into the Canal du Midi, through the renowned round lock. Moor at Agde in the shadow of its cathedral. Tonight, a gala farewell dinner.
Day 7:
Disembark after breakfast to transfer to the TGV rail station in Agde, where your tour ends.
Note: This route is run in reverse on alternate weeks.
