Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Meet at the Stafford Hotel in London for a traditional English cream tea before transferring to 'Magna Carta,' moored at Hampton Court. A champagne reception and Captain's welcome is followed by a gourmet dinner on board.
Day 2
Visit Hampton Court Palace, built by Cardinal Wolsey in the early 16th century. Wander in sixty acres of beautiful riverside gardens and find your way out of its famous maze, before a cruise to Shepperton.
Day 3
Cruise to Runnymede and moor at Bell Weir Lock, where there is an option to use the fitness and health spa facilities at the adjacent luxury hotel. In the afternoon, visit Savill Gardens, part of The Royal Landscape at Windsor Great Park.
Day 4
This morning, cruise to Windsor with its Royal Castle, built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century and inhabited by the royal family ever since. After dinner tonight, visit a local pub with entertainment provided by the talented Irish musician Stephen Carroll.
Day 5
Leaving Royal Windsor behind, 'Magna Carta' cruises to Boveney Lock for a walk to Dorney Court. This country house has been in the Palmer Family for 13 generations and was a setting for the recent film The Other Boleyn Girl. After a private tour with owner Jill Palmer, continue cruising through Cliveden Reach and the open English countryside. At Cookham, visit the newly-renovated Stanley Spencer Gallery with time to stroll through the village.
Day 6
Cruise this morning to the village of Hurley-on-Thames. There is time to watch traditional craftsmen at work at Peter Freebody's boatyard, a fixture on the Thames for more than 300 years. Explore the 11th-century village, perhaps visiting the public bar at Ye Olde Belle, reputed to be the oldest inn in the country. Continue cruising to Henley-on-Thames, which has hosted the annual Henley Royal Regatta since 1839. Visit Milton Manor, a beautiful family home, for a private tour with present-day owner Gwendoline Mockler-Barrett. Tonight's Captain's dinner is a celebration of a wonderful week on the water.
Day 7
After breakfast, transfer to the Stafford Hotel in London where your tour ends.
