The holiday season started off with a magnificent time aboard the Serenity and has continued bustling along at a pace that has just begun to settle. Your pre-planning of details were on target and made the voyage another one to remember. Having the electric scooter aboard really made the touring around the ship and ports a more comfortable experience.  The scooter was delivered to the wrong stateroom but that was because Crystal forgot we had changed rooms to accommodate my needs.  Once it was determined that the mix-up occurred, the problem was resolved and that was the only glitch during the entire adventure.
 
I did meet up with several passengers that I had met on previous cruise.  We shared the good times and extended our acquaintances to establish a  highly successful trivia
 team.  Even Tom Turkey could not evade our brilliant answers to some very tricky questions.
 
I used some sea time to explore the art of water color. It was an awakening to discover the new techniques.  The Institute Programs have so many super selections from which to increase your own skills and explore new ones.
 
The dinning experience in the specialty rooms were a real gourmet delight.  Sharing good food with fine friends made the cruise go so quickly that I hope my next choice of cruises will be longer.
 
Thank you for the shipboard gifts and know that they were put to good use.  I look forward to greeting the New Year and hope it is a healthy one for you and yours.

Dear Nanci, I thought I'd give you some feedback from the trip Carolyn and I booked back in August?.
 
We booked the NCL "Pride of America" 7 day cruise around the Hawaiian Islands.
 
The Travel Wizard bookings were great. The hotel accomodations were excellent, transportation vouchers were spot on and the cruise was outstanding, as were our accomodations on the Pride of America.
 
We were met in Honolulu by a very gracious lady bearing Orchid leis. She led us through the Honolulu airport, showing us all the shortcuts, helped us collect our baggage and got us into a taxi to the Aston Waikiki in fine fashion. The vouchers got us to the ship with no hassle also.
 
We really enjoyed the cruise and the side trips - we spent an additional $3K on the extras. The flight home was long but a young lady passenger on the Continental flight graciously traded seats and Carolyn and I were able to sit together on the trip home from Honolulu to Houston.
 
I don't know if you are familiar with "Easy Fly" offered by NCL. We booked our luggage from the ship in Honolulu to Orlando using Easy Fly. We simply packed it and set it outside our cabin door for pickup. It arrived in Orlando on our Continental flight. That was really carefree.
 
I have recommended Travel Wizard services and you, by name, to two interested travelers, one here in the Leesburg area and another in Tampa, FL. They are both doctors.

Thank you Leslie-  We had a wonderful time.  I am not normally a cruise person, but the service, rooms and scenery were to die for.  I don't think you can get the same sight seeing of Alaska from anywhere but a boat.  We saw whales every day right next to the boat not to mention the glaciers, waterfalls, and rainforests.  I would highly recommend the trip to anyone and we will definitely return someday.

My wife (Leslie) and I just returned from a seven day cruise on the WindSurf and would love to share our experience with you. We have been on various cruise ships before and  have always had a wonderful experience. But without hesitation, I would have to rate our WindSurf voyage  as one of  the most romantic, relaxing and  exciting cruise we have been on to date.  
 
We embarked in Bridgetown, Barbados and fell in love with this majestic ship and its grand sales, all seven of them. From the moment we stepped on board the WindSurf,  crew members greeted us  with  warm smiles and led us through the check in process. Everything went smoothly and by the time we took our first tour around this magnificent ship, our luggage was already placed in our  stateroom. 
 
We sailed from Bridgetown, Barbados to Bequia, Grenadines, to Roseau Dominica to Pigeon Island, St. Lucia, to Mayreau, to St. Georges, Grenada, to Tobago and then disembarked back in Bridgetown. In the evenings we saw the most magnificent sun sets and during one brief rain shower, mother nature entertained us with a double rainbow which unfortunately my Canon was unable to capture. 
 
There were 312 passengers on the WindSurf and with roughly 200 staff members, you never had to wait to long for anything from room service to your chilly pepper at dinner.  The seamless crew were available at your beck and call.  Breakfast and lunch were buffet style and we had plenty of variety to choose from.  Yet, if you preferred, you could also order ala Carte. Dinner was always ala  Carte. 
 
We had no set times for our meals, no standing in line and ate at our leisure. The dress code was relaxed, with the only exception at dinner time, shorts or jeans were not allowed. 
 
We had one regret, time went by far too fast for us. Perhaps next time we'll plan a 2 weeker with two separate itineraries. I would highly recommend the WindSurf to anyone looking for the ultimate cruise.

Don’t permit the tardiness in my letter writing in any way reflect negatively on my Holiday Treasure Trip on the Crystal Serenity.  The cruise was absolutely the BEST out of the eighteen cruises taken in my travel experiences. The initial step was finding you as the agent and guiding me through  the myriad of adventures awaiting me onboard the elegant ship.

 

From the first step taken aboard this cruise, the staff welcomed me like a family member, assisted me to the stateroom and acquainted me with the many amenities at my fingertips. The cabin stewardess was so accommodating to my special needs.  I remember the 12 foot waves crashing into the sides of the ship and how queasy I became in this most unusual sea condition.  The head waiter called my room to see if I was coming to dinner and then sent someone to check and insure the staff I was comfortable.  As a single traveler, you can imagine how calming this was and what a positive impression on the first few hours of the cruise.  Two hours later, the sea had calmed down and I was off to the evening of dance with the wonderful hosts aboard.  Imagine one of them was from my hometown.

 

The menus were so tailored to fit any appetite or nutritional needs that one might encounter while  sailing.  The service was impeccable and the table settings so inviting.  The special buffets prepared for the holidays were beyond expectation.  It was a treat for the pallet and the eyes as well. Matching fine wines and pre-dinner cocktails were an integral part of the dining experience.

 

I never imagined swimming with the dolphins in the British Virgin Islands could bring such a feeling of peace with the wonderful marine life surrounding us.  It  was the highlight of my land adventures.  I returned to the ship with a renewed appreciation of the wonders in these clear waters of the Caribbean.  The excursion to the different islands we visited were educational, as well as, entertaining.  Of course, I managed to enhance my jewelry collection and admire the handcrafts of the islanders.

 

 

It would be difficult to overlook the keyboard lab, the computer lab and the variety of lectures that accented the time at sea.  I also made it a point to partake of some of the acupuncture offered and the beauty services in the spa. I can’t imagine any greater period of shear relaxation than the experiences at the spa. Am I spoiled?  You  betcha I am!

 

Your pre-cruise attention to details and my needs were the keys to this enjoyable lifetime experience. I know I will be planning another venture with you and Crystal!

Dear Carson 

Thank you for an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime family trip. Your responsiveness and attention to detail gave us not only a good trip but peace of mind. We had a great weekand all the details of the package in Egypt were done nearly flawlessly. (We attached a couple pix.) For example, we were met on the front end at the airport, they grabbed our luggage, got our visas (they were already prepaid) and gave us our itinerary and some overview on the way to the hotel. It was like that all the way through. We were never without someone taking care of all our details. Our Egyptologist guide for the whole trip was very good, spoke good English and had good people skills as well. 

We moved in a minibus in a group of 12 and our group was very fun. The Grand Hyatt in Cairo was 5-Star and the Sonesta Nile Goddess was very nice. We got to see about 10 other boats inside, the lobbies at least, and it seemed the Sonesta-series boats were better or as good as any. This time of year was ideal temperature-wise as we heard over and over how brutally hot it is May through September -they said: 40-50 degrees Celsius daily.  

The package was absolutely no problem for us but I can say from observation that it is very difficult physically for some. You have to walk a lot over uneven ground, up hills, up and down stairs, on and off boats, etc. For the elderly, way-out-of-shape, and parents carrying infants or toddlers it was quite a challenge and a couple times undoable. The ground is not a stroller-friendly anywhere for example. The one thing we were semi-surprised with was the amount of tipping that was expected at every turn and we even had a written guide on what was "appropriate. I'll try to find the tip guidance and send it to you. We spent in the neighborhood of $1000 on just tips over the 8 days from the bags, bus drivers, tour guide and others.  

The locals who "volunteer" to take your picture or be in your picture expect to be paid. The policeman on the camel we took a picture with was very cooperative and then held out his hand for money. Another example was in the hotel and on the boat. We had one guy take us to our room and show it to us and get a tip, followed 3 mins later by the baggage guy who needed a tip followed 3 mins later by the guy with the key to open our connecting doors between our two rooms. The baggage storage guy when we were leaving on the last day came over to us to remind us that he was going off duty and wouldn't be there when we left for the airport and then stood around for a tip. Egyptians are extremely friendly and polite but are not shy about asking for a tip. Even the included activities like say the camel rides and carriage rides came with advice on how much to tip them to show our appreciation. 

Also, in Egypt you pay to go the bathroom anywhere, from even the Five-Star hotel lobby, to public and nasty WCs out at the historical sites, to the Cairo and Aswan Airports, there were no freebies and we were always looking for valuable small change to have ready for our family's visits to the necessary room. It was a group effort as our group of 12 was always asking each other if someone had some small change for the WCs. That's a lot on tipping I know and I don't want to make it sound like it in any way ruined our fantastic trip, I just figured it was good info for you to arm people with so they're mentally ready for it. It's a cultural thing I'd say as it's just the way it is. Tipping is subtle in the U.S. but not in Egypt 

Lastly, regarding security. Security was very good. There was a good mix of overt police and military everywhere and undercover cops mixed in with the tourists. As it's my biz to notice, I saw a lot of "tourists" with bulging items under their clothes and briefcases. Please ask us anything you'd like and we'll let you know if we know. Just to let you know we had a simply marvellous holiday on the Seven Seas Mariner Regent cruise ship from Auckland to Los Angeles.  The accommodation was very good, and the all inclusive drinks were amazing with practically no restrictions.  We did not abuse this but liked the fact that if we were by the pool we could order a refreshing drink without having to sign for anything.  The wine with the meals was excellent and the food first class.  We will definitely be considering cruising with Regent again.  The day out with Virtuoso was one of the best of the holiday with a wonderful tour of Moorea.  I must tell you that what those Polynesian dancing girls do with their hips must be illegal! The Virtuoso representatives on the boat were very helpful and did extra little fun competitions which we enjoyed.

I wanted to thank you for all of your expert help that made our Australian-New Zealand cruise the best experience of our lives. It
couldn't have been any better. The weather was perfect in the mid-60's and sunny every day. The side trips off the ship were uniformly terrific.

We loved watching the kangaroos in Serenedip Park jump over the fence.
When I asked the guide why they have the fence, he said to keep the humans out. I asked how the Kangaroo got it's name. You probably heard this before, but I loved the answer. When the first hunter saw his first kangaroo he asked his native guideI" What is That?" The Maori replied in
his tongue, "Kangaroo" /, which in his language mean, "What is What?"    I died laughing and the story still tickles me It was nice to be in two countries where they really seem to like Americans.

 

All the arrangements were perfect and we didn't miss a flight or have one delayed. We took a sleeping pill going over and back and we eliminated any time lag problem and landed running in Sydney. Your suggestion about getting upstairs seats on the plane was a real winner. We had seven hours of uninterrupted sleep because there wasn't any foot traffic to wake us up.

Joan, you were the best travel agent we have ever worked with. You replied to our innumerable questions almost immediately, which is very rare in our experience with many travel advisors. You anticipated a lot of potential problems, and got us through them without a hitch. Holland America was a wonderful cruise experience, the cabin was spacious, the food enticing and the personnel couldn't have been more helpful.
   
All in all, our trip could not have been any better, thanks to you.
We have sung your praises to all of our friends and urged them to
contact you if they can afford to travel in these grim times.

I want to thank you for a wonderful trip.  Everything went perfectly!  The Virtuoso complimentary excursion was great.  Eti, United Travel Service - Turkey, was wonderful.  Both Linda Hull and I bought Turkish rugs and we never intended to do so when we started out.  Ephesus was definitely the highlight of our trip.  What a spectacular site!  I'm so glad we did not miss that.  The cruise itinerary was perfect for the four of us.

The private excursion you arranged for us in Istanbul was wonderful!  We loved Dalim (once again from United Travel Service - Istanbul).  He was so informative, fun to be with, accomodating in every way.  I purchased an Iznik tile at the Grand Bazaar and Linda purchased a wonderful piece of art (ink painting on a leaf!).  Dalim gave us information at the Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Palace that was so informative, amusing and delightful.  He also gave us a great insight into the country of Turkey.  We have a new respect for the people of Turkey and the beauty of their country.  I can not say enough about the service - it was beyond our wildest expectations!  It will be an experience we talk about for years.

I can not thank you enough for making this one of the most wonderful vacations we have ever been on.  After our trip to Heaven ( Tahiti) the four of us never thought we would ever have another perfect vacation in every way.  We were wrong.  We trusted travelwizard.com again and you came through for us.  I wish there was some way we could express our gratitude besides saying "Thank You."  I am going to tell everyone I know what a wonderful job you did for us, about the excellent service provided by travelwizard.com.  I, personally, had been looking forward to a Mediterranean cruise for so long I was afraid I had gotten my expectations too high.  It was everthing I wanted it to be and so much more.

When I get the pictures back I plan on developing a slide show.  I will make sure to send you a copy.

The ship accomodations were very nice.  The food was not as good as we would have expected but there sure was plenty of it.  I think the next cruise we will probably try to go back to a Princess ship.  The service on Holland America was not as good as Princess.  However, we do pick our cruises based on itinerary so who knows.
The ship excursions we signed up for went very smoothly and we enjoyed them.  However, after Dalim and Eti, it was hard for them to measure up.

We like playing Bingo on the cruises.  We get Bloody Mary's and enjoy ourselves.  Well, this time, my husband won the Snowball Jackpot Bingo at the end of the cruise!  $2800!  (It didn't pay for the rug but the cost of the rug was forgotten for a few minutes!  Did I tell you my husband was an economist - need I say more about cost!)

I just returned from my vacation aboard the Crown Princess - and I had the opportunity to experience the new "Chef's Table."

This is truly a remarkable experience for our guests and you can and should recommend it to your agents - if they have guests that they feel would enjoy this experience - they should advise their passengers to approach  the Maitre d' immediately upon embarkation. The Chef's Table is only done twice per week with a maximum of 12 guests per evening.

What I did find out is that there is automatically a waitlist  - as the Maitre d' will personally select the 12 guests to ensure that the experience is truly memorable.  

We had identified ourselves as being interested on the first night as we arrived in the dining room for dinner.
We were told that the Chef had not yet decided on which nights he would have the dinner so we were told that we would be contacted by the Head Maitre d' to advise us if we were confirmed and if so on what night. They  told us what days the Chef was thinking of having the dinner.

Two nights prior to the dinner - we were approached by the Maitre d' while we were having dinner in Sabatini's - ( they must have looked up to see where we were dining - we found this a very nice personal touch)- he approached us and advised us that we were confirmed, he then advised us at what the time and location of where the group would meet. This very personal approach made us as guests feel very special.

The following day letter was delivered to our stateroom - the letter reconfirmed our reservations for the Chef's Table as well as our meeting arrangements. The letter stated that we would need to be clean and showered, with freshly laundered clothes - no open toe shoes for reasons that we would be entering the kitchen while in full operation.

On the scheduled night - we met  at 6:45 PM at the International Cafe Atrium Area. The Head Maitre d' met us and introduced each couple by first and last name - very personal and well done. He spent about 10 minutes with us explaining the evening and the kitchen facilities we had onboard - amount of food onboard - interesting statistics were also shared.

We were then escorted through the dining room and into the kitchen - where we were greeted by the Head Chef - washed our  hands and were each given white kitchen coats to wear.

We walked through the kitchen while in full operation - and were explained each area of the kitchen - we were then moved to an area of the kitchen not in use where we had two waiters, the Head Maitre d' and the Chef serve us five different appetizers prepared by the Chef  ( he explained each appetizer as it was served)  chilled champagne was also served and poured during this time.

This lasted about 30 minutes - at around 7:30 pm we left the kitchen and were escorted to a set table of 12 - decorated with a large floral arrangement - and three dedicated wait staff - they were dedicated to our table only - the Chef then came out and  explained the menu to us and what he was going to be serving. He was very excited to prepare our meal as this was one of the few times onboard he could creatively choose a special menu personally designed by him for us - As a Chef for a major cruise line, he explained that he must execute the standard menus for all guests that have been chosen and designed by Princess head office for all Princess ships. This is standard for all Princess Chefs in order to keep consistency throughout the fleet.  

This evening was his opportunity to use fresh local ingredients and go "off " the  menu. He had shopped for some of the ingredients in port that day. Each course was paired with the finest of wines - and the Maitre d' stayed with the table all evening. The CHEF came out just before each course to explain each course being served. The main course was spectacular - he sat with us to have dessert - and he then personally signed a copy of the Princess Cookbook for each couple - we also received a hand written copy of the menu. At that point a photographer appeared and took a picture of each couple with the CHEF and then a group picture. The following day the pictures were delivered to our stateroom.

I had been meaning to send you a report but was waiting to get a picture of the camera.

The Paul Gauguin week was very nice and a great way to unwind after the rushing round getting organised to come away for 6 weeks and the long flight.  I would say that for someone who enjoys water sports it would be absolutely magnificent.  We are not into that but we enjoyed the boat, the scenary and the company.  The highlight was the Virtuoso Tour.  This was an excellent day out on the best island.  The hosts were also great.  Quite by accident we had made contact with them before either new we had a connection.  They were ex brits and we got on really well.

After that we had a great time in NZ doing our thing - it really is a beautiful country with minimal traffic and nice weather.

The Voyager was, as usual, very good.  The itinerary was a bit messed about.  As you know their was a change before we left and then Sri Lanka was removed during the voyage.  Goa was added instead.  Just for a laugh the attached picture shows the Regent 6 star terminal where we docked!  I did hear the person on the next balcony saying something like 'What is this place, I have never seen a terminal like it!'

I guess when you book late you go where you can.

India was interesting to look at but I don't think I would want to stay for long.  Mombai was the best but you see the real India on the way to the airport!

Don't know when we shall be travelling again - maybe Sept. 09.

I wanted to send this note to express to you my gratitude for my recent
travel experience.  In November of last year my husband and I were planning
a trip to Hawaii for our first year anniversary vacation in February of
2008.  We were considering a cruise or a multi-island trip to Hawaii.
Unfortunately when I started looking on-line for cruises they were either
all booked or the only availability was extremely expensive suites.  During
my researching I came across the travelwizard website and made a request for
a call back for information.  This was the first time I used a travel agent
and it happened to be the best thing I ever did!
Within 24 hours I received a call from Sara Ruth Baughman and explained to
her my travel desires.  She listened thoroughly and explained a number of
options and promised to do some research into Hawaii prices.  The next thing
she did was explain another option to me which I would have never considered
on my own.  Sara told me about a 10 day cruise in Tahiti at a great price, a
price that actually beat any other prices in Hawaii.  She drew a picture in
my mind of a beautifully romantic and exotic vacation to a place I had never
been or really dreamt of but would soon find myself dreaming of it on a
nightly basis until I was finally there with my husband!
Her experience of Tahiti and the cruise line and her ability to comapre the
option to my originally planned Hawaiian trip helped seal a new deal to what
ended up being a much more exotic and once in a lifetime trip.  Sara and I
spoke regulary over the next couple of weeks to assure my comfort level
until my husband and I were finally convinced that it was the dream vacation
for our anniversary.
After we purchased the tickets Sara continued to play a major part in our
trip planning by sending us brochures, making suggestions of places to go
and things to do while there, ideas on how to save money and reminders of
things to take.  Her experience and enthusiasm quickly made her name a
household topic of conversation for my husband and I - we found ourselves
extremely excited leading up to the trip and full of wonderful
expectations.
The entire trip was all she had us imagine it would be and more!  It was
definitely a trip to never be forgotten and she will always hold a special
place in our hearts for making the experience so pleasurable.  I couldn't
wait to come home and share pictures with her and we talked enthusiastically
about it afterwards!  She made an extreme effort to inform and excite us
before the trip and then share in our pleasure when it was all over.  We had
a wondeful time and a lot of it was due to Sara and our wonderful experience
with her.
I would recommend her services to anybody I talk to and defintely plan to
utilize her in the future!!

We had a great time. A few wrinkles but that was to be expected. I don't know if we discussed that the stateroom upgrade from ours came with a "personal butler" and concierge service. We were discussing while on the trip if that would have been worth the upgrade price. What we found discussing with other travelers was the higher the room upgrade the better the service. For instance, you could dine in the specialty restaurants for all three meals if you were in a mini suite or higher. The service is considerably better in the specialty restaurants. Overall, I think the ship was understaffed. We filled out our report cards though so maybe with enough feedback they will tweak it.

 Carson, you did a great job for us getting everything together. We will definitely use your services in the future.

Santorini was beautiful, the hotel was fabulous. We really enjoyed our suite, they put rose petals on the bed in a shape of a heart.  Every evening with turndown we got chocolates and bottled water. We really liked that.  They also had a computer set up, which is how we were able to contact you.  We took their van into Fira and to the beach. On the last day, we rented a 4-wheeler and tooled around the island. We loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again. You matched us up perfectly! 
 
I found my most FAVORITE restaurant of the entire trip in Elounda as we were walking through. I can't remember the name of it, but the food was delicious and the view fabulous 
 
In Crete we liked the one day tour to the ruins in Heraklion. Very interesting and informative. 
 
We really liked Athens a lot. The hotel you picked for us was so nice, in a GREAT spot, and convenient to everything. We got lost for about 2 hours in the Plaka. There were many more streets than the map let on! We learned our way around and did well for the remainder of our stay.   

The tours you booked for us were fantastic! We liked the Athens day tour and visiting the Acropolis was a highlight.  It meant so much more, seeing it with the guide; so they could explain the history and the culture of what was going on at the time.  The Cape Sounion tour was a beautiful drive along the coast, thanks for your suggestions. Our tourguide also wrote a book on Greek Mythology, which we purchased and had her sign.   
 
Overall we had a WONDERFUL trip!! Your quick and assuring responsewhile we were there was great.  We enjoyed ourselves so much and thinking of where our next adventure will bring us.  Will definitely call you when we decide!

 I did happen to come across your phone message which you left on my cellphone several days ago and apologize for not getting in touch with you sooner.  I would like to thank you for all of your help during those first few days of the trip when we "missed the boat," a phrase which will never again. for me at least,  have quite the same meaning that it may have had previously!  That was very thoughtful of you to treat us with that bottle of wine aboard ship, and provided us with two evening dinners in the wonderful Bordeaux dining room made that much more enjoyable with the addition of cabernet sauvignon "spirits," which added to our own high spirits each day we were aboard that beautiful ship.  We had a wonderful time on this marvelous cruise, despite the initial mayhem.  When we arrived in Kona on 2/26 in the evening, it was reassuring to know that we had a beautiful resort hotel room awaiting our arrival.  So thanks again for that thoughtful gesture.  It was certainly quite a marvelous resort, the Royal Kona.  With the help of a rental car, we made the most of the additional time ashore and did some touring around the Kona side of Hawaii and then made our way on Wednesday afternoon around the south shore of the island to do some Hilo touring and await the ship's arrival on Friday morning.  I can't begin to convey what a majestic picture that was presented us as the Island Princess came sailing into Hilo, going right past our hotel in Hilo, on an absolutely glorious sunny morning, which I can attest to Hilo's reputation as to being one of the rainiest cities in the United States.  Still, despite the rain on Wednesday and Thursday, we did some sightseeing in the Hilo area and visited a tropical rain forest garden north of Hilo which resulted in taking two rolls of film just of all the flowers, especially the orchids.  By the time we boarded the ship some time after it docked at 11:00 am, we thought we must surely have missed the noon tour we had booked, but after we finally were shown to our cabin at ll:55, and I inquired if there was even a remote chance that we could make that tour, the room steward made a call, and then advised us to "RUN!"  Of course at that point we weren't really sure which way was fore or aft or port or starboard, but somehow we made it back down to the pier in record time.  At which point the ship person said, "Oh, I'm so sorry, that bus just left!"  I said "Oh, well, that fits in with the whole mess of missing the ship out of LA," and turned around to walk away, without realizing I was walking toward the edge of the pier.  I doubt she seriously thought I was going to keep walking straight off the edge of the pier, but she did call out and say to wait a minute while she contacted the bus driver.  After a minute or two, she called after me, saying to wait, that the bus driver was only three blocks away from the pier and was going to turn around and come back for us!  I have no doubt that she must have told him that we had missed the ship out of LA, and that the driver probably told the passengers that as well, because when he returned to pick us up at the security gate onto the pier, everyone applauded as we boarded the bus!  And I can assure you that was not typical passengers' reaction to anyone who kept a tour bus from leaving exactly on schedule when we took bus tours on the other days.  I gave the bus driver a big hug and kissed him on the cheek for being so nice.  Everyone laughed and applauded some more, and the driver said, with a big grin on his face, that we could discuss something for later that evening....  I can't begin to tell you how kind and sympathetic the bus passengers were as we found our seats and got settled.  After a welcome like that, how could the remainder of the cruise be anything less than spectacular.

We had a great time on the cruise - I would have to say that the highlight was the helicopter ride and landing on the glacier - unbelievable!  We had  the best weather not a drop of rain and sunshine in all three ports.  The  only thing that the boys wished they could have done was the zip line in Icy Straight but it was sold out.
 
We also really enjoyed the people we sat with at dinner two English couples and one of their sons who was Emily's age.  All in all a great trip, Alex says he want to live in Alaska!!

Our trip was wonderful! We had a great time (except for the storm on the first night) and lots of sunshine. The ship was beautiful and clean at all times. Being novice travelers we failed to take advantage of all the VIP amenities that were available to us. We enjoyed our large suite but did not realize that our patio door could only be open when we were in port. We got brave and opened it when we were in Glacier Bay. All the other cabins were opened, too so I guess that was OK!

We decided that we prefer meal times more than Freestyle Cruising. It is fun to meet people at dinner and get to know your wait staff. There were only 4 places to eat on "THE PEARL" that did not charge a surcharge. You had to have reservations at the other places and they were often booked up. Also there was only one dining area that was open 24 hours and it did not have comfort foods (like pizza, burgers, French fries, ice cream, sandwiches, etc.) that you sometimes get a craving for late at night or mid-afternoon. It was actually quite small considering the number of people on the cruise.

The shows were excellent and we had lots of free time to just explore. We didn't see any whales or wildlife on this trip. If we go back to Alaska some day, we will definitely choose different shore excursions. Thank you for all your help and for staying in touch. We think you were super. Next time I will keep the room you selected for us.
