To avoid confusion, San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas are the main communities of Los Cabos. Both cities are connected by a 20-mile stretch of land called "
The Corridor." Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo are the main cities of Los Cabos, with San Jose being the more traditional Mexican community of the two. Cabo San Lucas is located 19 miles west of San Jose del Cabo.
The main part of San Jose, with its jacaranda trees and quaint adobe houses is quite peaceful, and many old homes have been turned into interesting gift shops and restaurants. Playa Hotelera, a stretch of beach that is very beautiful, but not too good for swimming is just a few blocks down the main street of town. There is a freshwater lagoon filled with numerous species of birds and tropical plants at the East End of the beach. Playa Palmilla is the best swimming beach and is protected by a rocky point south of town. There is a lot fun and exciting things to do in San Jose Del Cabo. You go scuba diving or snorkeling in pristine waters, surfing---but small waves, you will find equipment rentals, tours, kayaking and rock climbing. There are numerous guides will take tourists on fishing trips, glass-bottom boat tours and snorkeling expeditions. The Corridor has become a favorite vacation destination unto itself, and is known for spectacular luxury resorts, it's great fishing and championship golf courses. Cabo San Lucas has the exciting nightlife, about 20 minutes by taxi. The weather in Los Cabos is great, ranging from the 70's in the winter, to the 90's in the summer. Summers get hot, but there is not much humity. June through September is hurricane season, but are far less frequent and less troublesome than the Caribbbean varity.
