Royal Hideaway Playacar Hotel General Information
What to expect:
Spread over 13 acres of immaculate grounds containing ponds, fountains, gently flowing artificial rivers spanned by white bridges, and white benches beside winding paths, the Royal Hideaway offers adults a tranquil haven of impeccable taste. Guestrooms are located in 11 English Colonial-style yellow villas graced by decorative white balconies. Each villa surrounds an open-air courtyard containing a burbling fountain strewn with blossoms. A concierge attends each villa from a courtyard desk.
Amenity highlights:
In addition to the main pool by the beach, the Royal Hideaway offers three "relaxation pools" in secluded locations that have sundecks and are paired by cool-water spas. Another hot tub is near the main pool. By the Caribbean's turquoise water, acres of powdery, light-gold sand, palm trees, and thatched-roof palapas entice guests for sunbathing, beach volleyball, beach soccer, and-a unique treat-beach darts. Attendants pass chilled towels and serve fruit around the main pool.
Insider tip:
A favorite destination of honeymooners and romantic couples, the Royal Hideaway adopted its own official song, "Love Is in the Air," to which staff members dance poolside every afternoon and repeat their performance every evening in Allegria, the resort's nightclub.

Royal Hideaway Playacar Hotel Dining
Effective March 1, 2005, the resort will only accept a pre-arrival dinner reservation for the first night of a guest's stay. Once checked in, reservations will be accepted for all other dates during their stay.
Palazzo -
Intimate and comfortable, this Italian dinner house commands views of the resort's grounds and the Caribbean. Both inside seating and terrace seating are available. The à la carte menu features classics such as gnocchi in pesto and beef braised in Barolo. Reservations and resort wear required.
Ventanas -
Serving international menus for à la carte breakfasts and dinners in a room featuring dark woods, recessed ceilings, and plush linens, Ventanas offers graceful dining and live music in the evenings. Reservations and resort wear required.
Spices -
At breakfast, this pretty place serves the resort's only buffet. Later, à la carte lunches and dinners feature Mexican and Caribbean flavors. Reservations and resort wear required.
Azia -
In a room graced by bamboo accents, Azia serves à la carte dinners of Asian dishes such as duck in red curry and tempura prawns. Reservations and resort wear required.
Beach Snack Bar -
From late morning until sunset, light meals such as burgers, salads, soups, and nachos are served here to sunbathers by the pool and on the beach.
Allegria -
This disco nightclub is open late into the night for dancing and drinks.
Cigar Bar -
Located near Ventanas this room is for smoking and enjoying evening drinks.
Piano Bar -
This spot serves afternoon tea and drinks and music during the evening.
