The food in Cozumel is, of course, mainly fish but international cuisine is also available. Some of the restaurants offering this type of cuisine include El Arrecife (Mediterranean) and Guido's (pizza and seafood).

Acuario

This attractive restaurant on the waterfront offers a classic menu, with lobster and prime rib specialties. An enormous aquarium of exotic fish serves as a centerpiece. Soft guitar music adds to the ambiance.

One of Carlos Anderson's wacky establishments-as raucous as a college frat party. The menu offers a wide variety of fresh seafood, Mexican cuisine and their famed BBQ ribs. Have an ice-cold beer or tropical drink in a souvenir yarda (yard-long glass). Winner of the government's "H" award for good hygiene in food management.

Ernesto Diaz is credited with popularizing this Tex-Mex dish south of the border. Also serves good breakfast fare from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A family-run restaurant offering courteous service and flavorful dishes in a comfortable, breezy setting with a plant-filled patio. Wood-fired oven pizzas, classic pastas, and Swiss-Italian specialties combining regional ingredients, such as tuna, wahoo and tropical fruits like mango. After dinner, enjoy the homemade gelatis. Good wine selection.

Hard Rock Cafe

This member of the world-renowned chain of restaurant-bars is special-it's the smallest. But it features the same great American classics: juicy hamburgers, crispy fries, and rock and roll bands playing from 10 p.m.

The Fisherman's Cabin, as it's called, is a bit out of the way, but well worth it if you like lobster, the only featured dish. Lobster tails, sold by the pound, prepared as you like them.

A longtime favorite, this traditional restaurant serves delicious and authentic home cooking in a cozy, rustic setting under a giant palapa. Delicately flavored soups included with each dish. Menu features several Yucatecan specialties. Reasonable prices

Off the tourist track, but well worth it, this attractive Mediterranean restaurant features the innovative culinary creations of its talented French Canadian chef. Menu highlights include grilled rosemary skewered shrimp wrapped in prosciutto, and pan seared filet mignon with roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Good selection of wines.
