The Bahías de Huatulco tourist complex consists of nine bays and several beaches with golden sand and azure waters surrounded by local vegetation along its entire length of 35 km. From north to south, the bays are San Agustín, Chachacual, Cacaluta, El Maguey, El Organo, Santa Cruz, Chahué, Tangolunda and Bahía de Conejos. One of the calmest, most beautiful beaches is in Bahía de San Agustín, a broad horseshoe of golden sand surrounded by beautiful rocky headlands.

Bahías Maguey y El Órgano
These bays are easy to get to from Santa Cruz and are therefore among the most popular. They are separated by a hill jutting out into the sea, and access to the open ocean is through a single pass surrounded by hills. The sea here is calm and transparent, and the beaches are inhabited by birds and some animals.

Bahía Chachacual
Arriving by boat at this bay, one is immediately surprised by the greenness of the tropical vegetation that is alive with mammals and birds. Rock formations separate the two almost virgin beaches that seductively invite one to rest, swim, dive, or go fishing in their clear waters.

Bahía Conejos
This is the last bay going towards Boca de Copalita , southeast of Santa Cruz . It has four beaches: Arena, Ounta Arenas, Conejos and Tejoncito . The attractive bay is distinguished by rocky formations, tropical vegetation, and its tranquility.

Bahía de Cacaluta
The best way to get to this bay from Santa Cruz that is situated to the southeast is by boat. The waves are big even though the bay is protected by an island, also called Cacaluta . There are no formal tourist services, but its unspoiled beauty and tranquility make it a very special place.

Bahía de Chahué
Separated from Santa Cruz by a small narrow peninsula, this bay¿s turquoise-blue and emerald-green waters lap up against Chahué , Tejón and Esperanza beaches. These beaches are noted for their fine sand, their gently sloping incline and normal-sized waves. All three beaches have tourist facilities.

Bahía de San Agustín
This is a beautiful bay lined by rocky promontories bordered by areas full of different wildlife. The golden beaches have a few palm huts where you can order seafood; there is also a place to rent scuba gear and motor boats.

Bahía Santa Cruz
This is a highly popular tourist spot, as the new village with its plaza, dock, and tourist services is nearby. Its three beaches ¿Santa Cruz, La Entrega and Hierbabuena - are ideal for sunbathing. Some interesting underwater coral formations are begging to be explored by divers.

Bahía Tangolunda
This bay, with its big hotels nestled into the surrounding hills, is the best-developed tourist spot in Huatulco . Some of the islets and islands, such as Montosa that is inhabited by birds, add to the gorgeous view that can be admired from the bay¿s five beaches: Tornillo , Manzanillo , Tangolunda , Ventura and Rincón Sabroso .

Santa Cruz

Boats set off from Santa Cruz for a tour of the rest of the bays and their numerous beaches, where you can arrange to be picked up if you decide to spend the whole there. Diving, skiing and all kinds of water and nautical equipment can be hired except for kayaks that are only available in Tangolunda. Virtually all the bays offer drinks and grilled fish sold by the locals.

San Agustin's Bay

The average temperature of the sea is from 25 to 30ºC , depending on the depth and the time of the year. San Agustín is ideal if you¿re looking for coral reefs and they also rent equipment there.
