Accommodations: Rooms and suites are arranged among nine 5-story buildings. Open daily for a la carte lunch and dinner, the intimate, open-air La Marina serves up fresh seafood and stunning sunset views over Puerto Morelos Bay. Dine indoors or al fresco at the casual La Alhambra, known for its ever-changing gourmet buffet and "a-la-minute" dishes. Guests relax in hammocks under breezy palms or on plush mattresses in cabanas at Scaramanga Moon & Beach Lounge, where the menu features tropical drinks.

Recreation: The silky white-sand beach is ideal for a range of water sports, including windsurfing, kayaking, and boogie-boarding. Snorkel and dive at nearby Puerto Morelos National Reef Park, and throw a line into the water at the adjacent El Cid private marina. Guests play tennis and take biking tours, and a kids' club involves younger guests in supervised playground and beach activities. The 22,000-square-foot, free-form pool features waterfalls, a diving platform, waterslides, and a swim-up bar, while an adults-only silent area has a spa tub, sundeck, and massage area. Spa: The beachfront El Cocay Spa revives ancient Mayan traditions to balance mind, body, and spirit. Take in calming Caribbean views while indulging in traditional healing remedies and massage techniques that use natural herbs, fruits, seeds, flowers, and other ingredients. Instruction is offered in yoga and tai chi. A high-tech, air-conditioned, oceanfront fitness center has the latest cardio equipment, treadmills, rowing and step machines, free weights, and a spinning area. Other spa amenities include hydrotherapy facilities, a Zen garden, meditation areas, massage cabins, a temazcal steam cabana, and a steam room and sauna.
