The City of Oaxaca spreads over an ample valley surrounded by high Sierras. This peaceful valley is almost always cuddled by a cloud-studded sky. Thus, it used to be called "Land of Clouds". In this city, there is also a myriad of beautiful civil edifications: the Macedonio Alcalá Theatre, Xochimilco Arches, State Public Library, Government Palace, Dance Plaza, as well as hundreds of homes built during the nineteenth century. History is well guarded by several museums within the City: Oaxaca Graphic Arts Institute, Contemporary Art Museum, Rufino Tamayo Museum and Oaxaca Regional Museum, among others. In Oaxaca, life is magical, where dozens of colors, the mysteries of indigenous traditions, the abundance of celebrations and the lush vegetation of its surrounding areas are the masters of it all. |
