One of the best beaches for water sports in Puerto Vallarta is in the Bahía de Banderas. Some of the best places for diving are: Quimixto, on Las Anima Beach, Punta Mita y los Arcos, near Mismaloya Beach, where there is a submarine reserve made up of small islands, reefs and tunnels that are great for snorkeling.

Las Ánimas
The coastline landscape becomes rugged and rocky south of Puerto Vallarta. Interspersed among the rocks are beautiful beaches with light gray sand, such as Las Ánimas. This beach is 600 meters long and the water is fully transparent, making it ideal for diving. It can only be accessed by boat.

Los Arcos
Los Arcos, situated in front of Mismaloya, consists of fantastic rock formations; the clear, transparent waters pound constantly against these rocks forming little nooks and crannies. The submarine wildlife consists mainly of fish and crustaceans.

Mismaloya

Nestling in the back of a small bay, this beach is regarded as one of the finest in Puerto Vallarta and is a favorite among swimmers and divers. It has hotel and restaurant facilities.

Punta Mita
Located in the municipality of Banderas in Nayarit, its main feature are the volcanic rock formations jutting into the crystalline blue-green water of the ocean. The clarity of the water makes it easy for divers to observe the rich marine fauna.

Quimixto - Las Ánimas Beach
The 600 meters of whitish-gray sand and transparent waters are ideal for diving.

Yelapa

White sandy beach with restaurants and a small hotel. There are boats available for hire, together with diving and fishing facilities. Nearby is a beautiful 30 m high waterfall.
