San Miguel de Allende was the cradle city of one of the most popular heroes of our Independence: Ignacio Allende. He not only was born and lived there, when he became a military man he fought bravely against Spanish people to get the Independence of Mexico on September 1810. Nowadays, everybody in Mexico wants to start celebrating the bicentenary of our Independence and this city is not the exception. He was born on January 21st but, even though when it means that only on this date is celebrated his Memorial Day, citizenry and staff wants to have more than a month of events on his honor.
