For those in search of natural architecture, the El Chorreadero Waterfall, with its natural pools surrounded by luxuriant forest vegetation, is just half an hour's drive away from Tuxtla Gutiérrez . The Cañón de la Venta , a nearly 80 km long geological formation bisected by the Río La Venta , with walls up to 400 m high, is perfect for the adventurous explorer. Don't forget to go with a guide and make sure you have all the necessary equipment. For the less experienced, Laguna Verde, 75 km outside Tuxtla , is ideal for spending a day in contact with nature. This tourist resort, set in exuberant vegetation, provides facilities for horseback riding, swimming, boat rides, walking and sports fishing.

El Chorreadero Waterfall
Located 10 km east of Chiapa del Corzo and 23 km from Tuxtla Gutiérrez , this waterfall pours out of a large crack in the 150-meter high rock wall created by a subterranean river. The waterfall creates natural pools where one can swim surrounded by the dense tropical vegetation.

Laguna Verde
This lake, 75 km from Tuxtla Gutiérrez , is surrounded by dense tropical vegetation and inhabited by many different types of birds. It is a popular place for swimming, fishing, boating or simply enjoying the view and taking photographs.

La Venta Canyon
53 km from Tuxtla , on the way to Ocozocoautla , the La Venta River flows through a mountain pass, or Sagrado Canyon , between rock walls that are excellent for climbing. The river the western border of the Ocote Reserve has rapids than can be run in kayaks.

Sumidero Canyon
Nature formed a large crack in the canyon some 130 million years ago. Today, this area is part of a 21,800-hectare National Park, the habitat of several species of birds and mammals. A 25-km long lake formed by the Chicoasén dam is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.

The Cruz Ancha waterfall
The Sabinal River flows through some beautiful scenery and over waterfalls that form natural pools where one can swim. This waterfall is only 4 km southwest of Tuxtla Gutiérrez .
