The Cathedral was built in the neoclassic style, the Municipal Palace and its porticos are extremely interesting but the most representative buildings in this port that was often under siege during the colonial period are the Baluarte de Santiago (The Santiago Bulwark) and the El Fuerte de San Juan de Ulúa (The San Juan de Ulúa Fort).

Arts & Crafts While walking through the streets, it is easy to get distracted in the gift and handicraft shops or at the porticos where artisans sell their wares.
Festivals The most important fiesta is the Carnival. The climate, the people and the music all combine to create a fantastic, unique atmosphere. The Plaza de Armas ( Arms Square ) is turned into a stage where you can listen to the orchestra and dance the traditional danzón (a local dance).
Carnaval February is the month of festivities in Veracruz, the location of the second most famous carnival in Latin America, after the Brazilian event. The events include the crowning of the Child Kings, the King of Joy the Queen, as well as parades with dancing, people dressed in disguises, and music along Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho.
Historical Interest The somber jails of the San Juan de Ulúa Fort, the Plaza Reforma , ( Reform Plaza ) the Capilla de Cristo del Buen Viaje (The Chapel of the Good Journey of Christ) that was dedicated to the devout mulattoes and the city in general are filled with legends and history. The charm and history of the port can be particularly enjoyed by taking a tram ride.

Museums The Museo de la Ciudad ( he City Museum) has interesting displays and the exotic Museo de Agustín Lara (The Agustín Lara Museum) was built in honor of the beloved " Flaco de Oro " (the "Skinny Golden Boy"). ( Agustín Lara was a great song composer ). The Aquarium Veracruz is the location of the largest aquarium in Latin America. It has 25 large fish tanks of which 15 form part of a salt-water exhibition with tropical fish. The others contain freshwater species, including turtles.
Beaches Just five kilometers away from the Port, Mocambo's beaches are ideal for those in search of sun and gentle waves. Further on, Antón Lizardo also offers a reef area for diving. There are also facilities for fishing and other water sports. Mocambo Passing gardens and parks, Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho stretches 10 km along the coast from the city center to Mocambo beach where you will find the most expensive hotels. This is one of the best beaches in Veracruz.
Golf The Club de Golf Villa Rica, regarded as having the finest green in Veracruz , offers private lessons. Its beautiful golf course has 9 holes, par 70 and is 6,213 yards long.
Club de Golf La Villa Rica This undulating golf course was designed by Percy Clifford and has 9 holes. Services include caddies, club rental, and golf lessons, to mention just a few. Km 15 Antón Lizardo highway, Boca del Río.
Night Life At nightfall, music takes over the plazas where the people of Veracruz gather to dance danzón. But you can also hear the sound of harps, violins, guitars and pianos, while DJs invite you to take your pick of bars and nightclubs.
