Villahermosa, growing city, has all facilities of large cities. At the time that its cultural and natural attractions are linked together harmoniously to invite you to visit the lash landscape that involves the remaining of the Olmeca Culture.
Here you will find several historic and anthropological museums, among which it is well known the Park Museum La Venta, by its Colossal Olmeca Heads that you can see here.
The beauties that Villahermosa offers are inexhaustible: its old towns, its customs, its feasts, its fairs and exhibits, in which the quick growth of the city is quite manifested that is complemented with the diverse facilities, such as libraries, theaters, open forums, parks, sport centers and night clubs.
From a large terrace, where popular festivals are organized every Sunday, you can see the Grijalva River and the beautiful sunsets. It also has a kiosk where sometimes artists present their shows.
GOVERNMENT PALACE
In this building you can see a magnificent roof made of cooper with a large vitral. The balconies, steely fences, cooper plates, esmerillados glasses and the forniture were brought from France.
HISTORY MUSEUM
Inside this building, that is also known as "The House of the Glazed Ceramic Tiles", you will see the ojivales, peraltados, polibulados arches and a wide variety of glazed ceramic tiles brought from Barcelona.
In the museum, some pieces are exhibited, such as the weapons shield, for example; and it is very important one Oleo painting on cloth that represents San Antonio de Padua.
In the hall dedicated to The Mexican Revolution, it is located an oleo painting that shows The General Zapata, and it was painted by the Mexican Alfredo Zalce in 1966.
JUAREZ STREET
The first streets that were streaked in the city are known as "The Light Zone" and are located in a part exclusively for people. From those streets, Juárez Street is known by its popularity. Here are located several business, banks and cafeterias, such as Cafe Casino, one of the most famous in the State.
"THE AWAKEN JAGUAR" ART GALLERY
In this gallery other national and international painters' works are exhibited. In the cafeteria area, conferences, theater plays, poetry recites, round table, musical concerts, books' presentations, documentaries, movies and audio conferences.
CARLOS PELLICER CÁMARA ANTHROPOLOGY MUSEUM
From the exhibition in this museum, one of the most important in the country, there are two main pieces: The urn found in the Teapa Municipality, Tabasco, and the gravestone of monument 6 in the Turtle Aquarium. In both the artistic skill and the expressive energy of prehispanic towns predominate.
The museum is located nearby the Grijalva River. And it also has representative vestiges from the Inhabit cultures of Mesoamérica.
LA VENTA PARK MUSEUM
Here are exhibited several archeological pieces, legacy of Olmecs, such as The Colossal heads, slipstream and altars of basalto which were collocated according to their original position and distribution they had when they were found. During the tour you can see a variety of vegetal that form a small jungle which serves as habitat for the local wildlife.
CARLOS PELLICER HOUSE MUSEUM
It is locate in the center of the city, in the house where Carlos Pellicer was born, one of the best Mexican poets. Personal objects of the poet and his mother are exhibited.
JOSÉ MARÍA PINO SUÁREZ LIBRARY
It has been considered as one of the most important in the country, because of its bibliographic acervo, that has up to 160 thousand volumes. The services that it has: lecture hall, hemeroteca, Infants' hall, audiovisual area, cafeteria, multiple usage hall and area for special collections.
CATHEDRAL
This edification is a copy of the Basilica of San Juan de los Lagos in Jalisco. It consist of an atrio and two towers that you can see almost at any point of the city.
TOMÁS GARRIDO CANABAL PARK
This park, the most attractive in the city, is located near the Lagoon of Illusions. It has an art house where folk dance, marimba and painting classes are given, besides an outdoors theater, a restaurant with typical food, a convention salon and a salon where folk dances were previously performed during the state festival. |
