The Zona Luz is the oldest part of Villahermosa . Its streets have preserved the architecture and spirit of yesteryear. Along its walkways, the sounds of the marimba blend with the noises of the tropics. This part of Villahermosa contains one of the most striking buildings in the city, the House of Tiles and the enchanting Carlos Pellicer Museum-House.
The Carlos Pellicer Cámara House-Museum This is a typical Tabascan house and the birthplace of the well-known poet, Carlos Pellicer. It is located at Calle Saenz, No. 203 and today it is a museum dedicated to the life of this personality.
The Cathedral This church was built in the 1960s, and the sober but beautiful façade is a reminder of the old baroque style; its interior has an old image of Nuestra Señora de la Conquista (Our Lady of the Conquest). The previous building was destroyed by an anti-religious attack at the beginning of the 20th century, but it is thought to have been a monument built in 1614.
The Concepción church The current building, designed in the simple neo. Gothic style dates back to 1945. There are historical references to a church built on this site in the 19th century, but it was destroyed during the wave of religious persecution in 1925.
The Government Palace This beautiful building was constructed at the end of the 19th century by architects, Carlos Jerez and Pedro Folc. It was designed in the neo classic style, and the interior is decorated with French furniture and adornments. The staircase has woodcarvings, and the doors are made of mahogany.
