Itinerary
Days 1 - 3 - Tel Aviv, Israel
In vibrant Tel Aviv, we visit Beth Hatefutsoth, and the Museum of Jewish Diaspora to gain historical insights on the dispersion of Jews outside of Israel since the sixth century B.C. You will be seduced by Old Jaffa, the world’s oldest port, as we stroll along the winding cobblestoned streets of this charming artists’ colony.
Days 4 & 5 - Haifa
Experience the drama of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre at Caesarea. Visit the Baha’i Shrine and its impressive gardens. Descend by cable car to the marvelous sea-sculpted caves of Rosh Hanikra, then continue to Acre to see the Jezzar Pasha Mosque—and visit the crypt of St. John and its colorful bazaar.
Days 6 & 7 - Nazareth & Tiberias
Walk through the storied home of Jesus and visit the Church of the Annunciation, Joseph’s Workshop and Mary’s Well. Browse through colorful Arab markets. Sail across the Sea of Galilee to Kibbutz Ginosar, and learn about Israel’s unique form of communal living. Explore the Mount of the Beatitudes where the “Sermon on the Mount” took place. We also visit Golan Heights, the mountainous border region with Syria.
Days 8 - 12 - Jerusalem
Travel through the Jordan Valley to Bet She’an, known as “Israel’s Pompeii,” and Jericho, the oldest known city in the Western World. Continue to Qumran to see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Ascend to the top of Masada to see the ruined palaces of Herod the Great. Stand beside the Tomb of Lazarus in Bethany and walk through historical Bethlehem. Explore the Church of the Nativity, Manger Square and Shepherd’s Field.
In Jerusalem, visit the Church of Ascension and the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives. Marvel at the Dome of the Rock and the Wailing Wall. At Mt. Zion, visit the Tomb of King David, the Room of the Last Supper, and the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu.View the Dead Sea Scrolls. Pay solemn respects at the moving memorial of Yad Vashem. Then, walk to the Church of St. Anne, Stations of the Cross, the Calvary, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
