Wonders of the Middle East begins in the rejuvenated capital of Beirut. Tour Lebanon's World Heritage sites of Tyre, Byblos and Baalbeck as you journey overland into Syria. Visit what T.E. Lawrence described as the "finest medieval castle in the world" - the Crac des Chevaliers. After visiting the Roman settlement of Apamea, carry on to the charming northern city of Aleppo. Follow this with a journey along the mighty Euphrates River to Raqqa, Resafe and Deir Ezzur.
Tour the ruins of the great trading cities of Dura Europos and Mari as you traverse the desert to Palmyra -- Syria's greatest historical site. The ancient capital of Damascus and the city of Bosra with its massive Roman theatre will be your last stops in Syria before crossing into Jordan. En route to Amman, visit the well-preserved Decapolis city of Jerash. From the Dead Sea travel via the King's Highway to one of the world's great treasures: Petra. Conclude your travels with a jeep ride through the moonlike landscape of Wadi Rum before ending your Middle Eastern experience in Amman.
