The South Island’s largest city, Christchurch is an entertaining mixture of refined lifestyle and cultural excitement.  Our Essential Christchurch package has you staying downtown in one of the city’s hippest hotels, The Hotel Off the Square.  Get ready for 4 days and 3 nights of adventure, adrenaline and stunning scenery.

The essential Christchurch experience begins with a tour of discovery, featuring spectacular scenery. Board the world famous TranzAlpine train and travel across the Canterbury Plains and up through the Southern Alps to Arthurs Pass. From Arthurs Pass we tour by road over the Southern Alps in the Arthurs Pass National Park and on to the Otira Gorge. You’ll visit the old village of Otira before returning to Arthurs Pass for lunch. After lunch explore the village and some of the many walks.

Before returning to Christchurch you take one of the most exhilarating and scenically spectacular jet boat rides available in New Zealand. You will jet boat the Waimakariri River Gorge through the foothills of the Southern Alps with breathtaking views of rugged snow-capped mountains.
Following the jet boating, a visit will be made to a farm for late afternoon tea, followed by a sheep shearing and sheep mustering demonstration. Then back to Christchurch.

The following day will be one you will not soon forget: you’re about to have a date with the worlds smallest, rarest and friendliest dolphins, the Hector's dolphin.

There is only one place on the planet where you can swim with Hector's Dolphins and that is Akaroa Harbour. Akaroa Harbour is actually the flooded crater of an extinct volcano. Apart from the huge and awe-inspiring volcanic cliffs, this also means that the harbour is very sheltered. Your swim is not in the open sea, but inside a sheltered harbour.  You’ll be traveling with a group of no more than 10 guests, so this is a small group experience. The two hour cruise includes ½ hour briefing and about 2 hours on the water, of which up to 1 hour is spent with the dolphins.

All equipment is provided including wetsuit, mask and snorkel as well as a hot shower afterwards and hot drink after your swim.  Just bring you bathers and a towel.
