Tour Itinerary Day 1. Arrive Wellington. The nations capital is home to Te Papa - the interactive Museum of New Zealand, numerous art galleries and national treasures such as the original Treaty of Waitangi. A diverse range of cafes and restaurants support the city's vibrant nightlife. Wellington (1 night) Day 2. Wellington to Blenheim. (3 Hours Wellington/Picton Ferry Crossing, 29 km/18 Miles). This morning transfer to the ferry terminal for the 3 hour scenic journey across Cook Strait on the Interislander. On arrival in Picton, pick up your rental vehicle and travel a short distance south to Blenheim. Blenheim (2 nights) Day 3. Blenheim at leisure. Situated on the fertile Wairau Plains in the Marlborough district, at the top of the South Island of New Day 4. Blenheim to Kaikoura. (129 km/80miles – 1 hour 30 minutes). Depart Blenheim and drive south to Kaikoura, renowned for its year round whale and dolphin watching. Kaikoura (1 night) Day 5. Kaikoura to Hanmer Springs. (141 km/88miles – 2 hours). Hanmer Springs is a destination for relaxation and indulgence. You can soak in the hot springs or treat yourself to a range of spa therapies. Hanmer Springs (1 night) Day 6. Hanmer Springs to Christchurch. (135 km/84miles – 1 hour 30 minutes). The route to Christchurch initially follows the beautiful Waiau River. Then it leads you through the Balmoral Forest and across the Hurunui River. Christchurch (1 night) Day 7. Depart Christchurch. Return your rental vehicle and depart Christchurch.
