Day 1. Arrive Auckland. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Sky City Hotel
Day 2. Auckland to Bay of Islands. Crossing Auckland's busy Harbor Bridge we travel along the Hibiscus Coast and visit the Matakohe Pioneer Museum and Waipoua Forest Reserve where we view giant Kauri tree, Tane Mahuta, 'Lord of the Forest'. Travel north to the Bay of Islands, the cradle of European settlement in New Zealand. Paihia Pacific Resort
Day 3. Bay of Islands. (Your Choice) Today you have the opportunity to choose the sightseeing activity that interests you the most and we will include it. Take an exciting day tour to Cape Reinga and drive along the sands at Ninety Mile Beach.
Day 4. Bay of Islands to Auckland. This morning explore the Bay of Islands on a cruise to Cape Brett and the 'Hole in the Rock' (sea conditions permitting). Returning to Paihia our coach departs for our journey to Auckland. Sky City Hotel
Day 5. Waitomo to Rotorua. Leaving the 'City of Sails' we travel south to Waitomo Caves, and experience a guided tour of the underground caverns, lit by thousands of tiny glow worms. Emerge into daylight and continue to Rotorua and tonight immerse yourself in culture as you enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and cultural performance. Park Heritage Hotel D
Day 6. Rotorua. (Your Choice) Today, we give you the opportunity to choose the activity and we will include it. Perhaps visit Rotorua's must see three; Te Puia Arts and Crafts Institute, the Agrodome and Rainbow Springs Nature Park. Park Heritage Hotel or Country Stay option
Day 7. Rotorua to Wellington. Follow the Thermal Explorer Highway to the heart of the North Island and view Wairakei Steam Valley. Travel south and cross the vast volcanic plateau of World Heritage-listed Tongariro National Park on our way to Wellington. James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor
Day 8. Wellington to Blenheim. Enjoy a brief city sightseeing tour this morning before visiting Te Papa, the 'National Museum of New Zealand'. This afternoon board our Interislander cruise for a journey across Cook Strait to Picton. On arrival rejoin our coach and travel to Blenheim. Blenheim Country Hotel
Day 9. Blenheim to Christchurch. Enjoy spectacular scenery as we journey through the renowned vineyard and the productive orchard region of Marlborough. Visit the fishing town of Kaikoura, famous for its whale and dolphin watching excursions. This afternoon we arrive in Christchurch renowned as the 'Garden City'. Copthorne Central Hotel
Day 10. Christchurch to Franz Josef. This morning board the award-winning TranzAlpine Train for a journey renowned as New Zealand's 'Great Rail Adventure'. Enjoy stunning scenery as we journey through spectacular gorges, river valleys and across the magnificent Southern Alps. Disembark at Arthurs Pass and continue to Hokitika by coach. Continue along the dramatic West Coast and view the magnificent Franz Josef Glacier (weather permitting). Franz Josef Glacier Hotel
Day 11. Franz Josef to Queenstown. View magnificent scenery today as we travel along the rugged West Coast to Haast. Experience a unique river safari, capturing breathtaking views of the massive glacier formed Haast River Valley, flanked by towering peaks, cascading waterfalls and dense temperate rainforest. Day 12. Queenstown. (Your Choice) Queenstown is an exhilarating, year-round, alpine resort, perfect for adventurers and leisure-seekers alike. Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, overlooked by the majestic Southern Alps. Today you have a selection of activities to choose from and we will include it!
Day 13. Queenstown to Te Anau. Today we travel to Fiordland, a World Heritage-listed area. Here we see some of New Zealand's most remote and untouched scenery as we journey to Milford Sound. Join a cruise on this beautiful, glacier-carved fiord (weather permitting). Cruise to the mouth of the fiord and view the mighty Tasman Sea. This afternoon take a relaxing journey to Te Anau. Day 14. Te Anau to Dunedin. (Your Choice) Leaving the dramatic landscape of the Fiordland region we journey through rolling Southland countryside. Travel via the rural support towns of Lumsden, Gore and Balclutha to the East Coast and the city of Dunedin. This afternoon you choose an activity and we will include it. Perhaps visit Olveston House or take the opportunity of an optional tour and cruise of the Otago Peninsula to view Royal Albatross and Yellow-eyed Penguin colonies in their natural environment. Day 15. Dunedin to Twizel. Journey north along the coast to view the unique Moeraki Beach boulders, giant rocks that have been eroded by wave action and lie scattered on the beach. We turn inland and travel past the beautiful azure-colored man-made lakes of Pukaki, Aviemore and Benmore, all developed for hydro-electric power schemes. Continue to Twizel, a town built on the ouskirts of Mount Cook National Park. Mackenzie Country Inn
Day 16. Twizel to Christchurch. This morning we journey into the majestic scenery of Mount Cook National Park, a World Heritage-listed area and home to New Zealand's highest mountain, Mount Cook. Stop at picturesque Lake Tekapo to visit the Church of the Good Shepherd, which was built in 1835. Travel through Burkes Pass to Christchurch, the pretty 'Garden City'. Copthorne Central
Day 17. Depart Christchurch. A departure transfer is included to connect with your onward flight
