Kauri Cliffs Resort General Information
The lodge and golf course at Kauri Cliffs is situated on the Pacific Ocean coast, a little north of the Bay of Islands.
Kauri Cliffs opened in February 2001. The main building boasts a large dining room, lounge, card room and tiger room - named after the resort owner's affectionate moniker. All rooms in the main building have open fireplaces, and elegant furnishings, featuring English, Italian and Spanish antiques. All the artwork has originated in New Zealand.
Adjacent to the main building is the accommodation. Twenty-two rooms feature in eleven separate cottages looking from the edge of native New Zealand forest, across the golf course to the Pacific Ocean and coastal islands. Each room has a private veranda, large lounge and bathroom, TV, open fireplace and full "his and hers" walk-in wardrobe.
Facilities at Kauri Cliffs include golf, a spa, heated pool, hunting, kayaking, a gymnasium, business center, two tennis courts, various nature trails and three easily accessible private beaches.
Dining at Kauri Cliffs is a la carte and there are several dining areas away from the main dining room. Guests may choose to dine beside the outside fireplaces on the main lodge veranda, or in a variety of private dining rooms perfect for families or intimacy. A full breakfast, dinner and pre-dinner drinks are included in the tariff. Gentlemen are required to wear jackets for dinner.
Small conference and meeting facilities are available for up to 30 at no extra charge. Kauri Cliffs is the ideal executive retreat or incentive sanctuary.
The golf course at Kauri Cliffs was named "Number 49 of the top 100 Best International Courses by Golf Magazine for 2003" It is 7,125yds long and boasts 15 holes with ocean views, six of them right on the edge of dramatic ocean-side cliffs. The fully equipped golf shop is situated on the ground floor of the main building. Lessons and caddies are available.
Kauri Cliffs Lodge Facilities and Activities
Facilities  Set on 4,800 acres near Matauri Bay, Northland, The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs affords spectacular 180-degree views of the Pacific Ocean. Cape Brett and the offshore Cavalli Islands are part of the panorama which can be viewed from the verandas, lounge and card room.
The main lodge, which overlooks the golf course and the Pacific Ocean, consists of a spacious beamed living room, meeting room, card room, fitness center and small computer room. Gourmet a la carte dining is available in the main dining room or on the verandas.
Eight outlying guest cottages, each with two guest suites, provide accommodation at Kauri Cliffs. Every suite offers its own private porch, comfortable bedroom with sitting area and open fireplace, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom. The cottages are nestled on the edge of a native forest overlooking the ocean and golf course.
Activities Besides our championship golf course, amenities include two Astroturf tennis courts, an infinity swimming pool with spa, and a fully equipped fitness center. Kauri Cliffs has three secluded private swimming beaches.
 Nature Walks With more than 1,000 acres of native bush on the property, guests are able to see a great variety of natural wonders. The Hikurua River sports a beautiful wide waterfall. Our Kauri tree, believed to have been the largest on private property until the Lodge's owners gave it to the Queen Elizabeth Trust, is a fantastic sight.
Kauri Cliffs Resort Dining
Breakfast Breakfast is a buffet of local and imported fruits, cereals, yoghurts and freshly baked breads and muffins. In addition, a hot menu featuring eggs, waffles, pancakes, crisp bacon, ham and sausages may be ordered.
Lunch A formal three-course lunch is available. Alternatively, there are a variety of sandwiches, salads and desserts to choose from.
Picnics Wonderful picnic sites abound on the property. We have three secluded beaches, several waterfalls and stands of magnificent bush. A choice of delicious picnic lunches is available.
Cocktail Hour The cocktail hour is an excellent time to meet fellow guests. Hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and a wide range of wines, beer and spirits are available.
Dinner Our a la carte dinner menu changes nightly and features local produce and seafood. The best New Zealand lamb and beef are served. Head Chefs Neil Brazier and Dale Gartland are also masters of exotic and tempting desserts.
Dinner Attire Gentlemen are required to wear jackets during cocktails and dinner. Jackets are available to borrow.
