Aberdeen is located on the east cost of Scotland on the North Sea and has an important shipping port. Most of the buildings are made from local granite quarried. There are numerous beaches and rivers and the region has been inhabited for at least 8100 years.
Aberdeen has two famous colleges, the University of Aberdeen founded in 1495, and the Robert Gordon University which started in 1992.
Ship building, commercial fishing, paper mills, and textile plants were the traditional industries until the oil industry took off. Aberdeen was the first city in the UK to come out of the recession.
History buffs will love Aberdeen and it granite buildings steeped in rich history. There are many nice parks, beautiful gardens and open spaces, making exciting cultural activities and attractions. There is great performing arts, theatre and concert halls to enjoy the exciting music.
