2 Days Explora Easter Island Rapa Nui Tour Package
Duration: 2 Days / 1 Nights Priced From: $2,280 pp dbl. occ. Departures: Daily
Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, is the farthest island from any populated land on the planet. It has been a place full of attraction and mystery ever since its discovery.
Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a distanceof 3,700km from the coast of South America, RapaNui is a great volcanic cone that was pushed up fromthe ocean floor to 500 meters above sea level. This tiny triangle of land, that measures just 166square km, was the birthplace of a fascinatingcivilization, of which the moai – giant statues sculptedfrom rock – play silent witness to this history.
Manyof the statures today have been re-erected abovetheir ceremonial platforms called ahu, but justdecades ago the statues lay toppled over andscattered about the island, much like a battlefield.
Many were left half-finished in the rock quarry ofthe Rano Raraku Volcano.
Today visitors can share with the descendents of thisculture, who for generations have maintained theirancestor's habits and have kept alive their traditions.
The hotel is located on a hill in the Te Miro Oone sector, on 9.6 hectares of land that faces the sea. The hotel is situated in the southwestern zone of the island, 5.6 km from Hanga Roa – the only town on the island – and it acts as a base for exploring this attractive and mysterious island, home to a culture whose origins and evolution remain unexplained.
Volcanic rock, native to the island and always used by the island's inhabitants in construction, and wood from the mainland are the principal materials.
The hotel has 30 guestrooms that spread out from central areas that house reception, living areas, a bar, kitchen and services. Next to the common areas is the Casa de Baos Hare Vai, with a pool, massage salon and open-air Jacuzzis.
