Bariloche for many is synonymous for winter, snow and skiing. Also known asthe "American Switzerland", this area offers more than just a great skidestination. This city rich with tradition is located in the heart of theNahuel Huapi National Park. With international ski slopes, renowned chocolateshops, and chalet style architecture, Bariloche is thriving with culturaldining, dancing and shopping.

Catedral Alta Patagonia or Cerro Catedral is the actual ski resort located 12miles from town. Catedral Ski Resort is a full service resort with all theamenities that are expected from a world class ski area. The resort justcompleted a huge 4 year renovation adding many on-mountain amenities,including hands free ski passes, increased snowmaking, on mountain dining, newchairlifts and additions to the base area. This plan has generated theincorporation of new lifts to the winter resort, which enables skiers fiveindependent ways to reach the upper part of the mountain and provide asmoother flow. Catedral offers skiing on 2,964 acres. The bottom half of themountain offers 53 groomed and marked trails for skiers of all abilities.Some of the best skiing in Argentina can be found in the upper bowls where youwill find treeless pistes. The highest point at Catedral at 2100 meters abovesea level has the most impressive and beautiful views of the Andes MountainRange and the Patagonian lakes! Visable from the ridgeline is Mt Tronador(11,660ft), the National Park Nahuel Huapi, and the border to Chile's LakeRegion.

Catedral attracts a young crowd who love challenging slopes and a livelysocial scene. The base village has a few great hotel options, restaurants, 40+shops, a casino and a movie theatre. The exciting town of Bariloche, situatedaround the Nahuel Huapi Lake, has strong connections to Europe, and is knowfor its vibrant nightlife. Bariloche is a hot spot for music in addition to avariety of pubs, bars, restaurants and discos. There are regular shuttles between the town and the ski resort.
