Copacabana Palace Hotel, Dining
With its opulent lounges, bars and restaurants, the Copacabana Palace is a haven of relaxation and good living. Guests can choose from two of Rio's finest restaurants: The Hotel Cipriani Restaurant and The Pergula Restaurant.

The Hotel Cipriani Restaurant, which serves Italian dishes, is one of the most sophisticated in the city and is patronised by the jet set of Rio.
The Pergula Restaurant is situated by the pool and offers breakfast, lunch and alfresco dining.
The Copacabana Piano Bar is a sophisticated and casual meeting place. Alternatively, you can dine in the comfort and privacy of your own room with 24-hour Room Service.
The Copacabana Palace prides itself on its service and our well-trained professional staff are ready to attend to guests' every wish. Drinks and light snacks are served on the Pool Terrace throughout the day.
Hotel Cipriani Restaurant The Hotel Cipriani Restaurant, which is open for both lunch and dinner, offers the very best of north Italian cuisine. Chef Franceso Carli prepares traditional as well as more innovative dishes. Carli previously worked in the Orient-Express Hotel Cipriani and Palazzo Vendramin in Venice and many of the dishes are the same as those on Hotel Cipriani's menu. Authentic Italian dishes include his delicious Risotto di Zucca Profumato al Rosmarino and Maccheroncini con Pomodoro Melanzane e Tonno.
'I only use fresh products to get the most out of their natural flavour. Base ingredients rather than the sauces give northern Italian cooking, particularly cuisine from Venice and its environs, its taste and style. If refrigeration of ingredients would noticeably affect their natural flavour, the ingredients are not refrigerated,' explains Carli.
Carli is delighted, although not surprised, with the quality of the ingredients he has found in Brazil and only supplements local ingredients with imported items, such as Italian oils and wines, when the Brazilian equivalent would compromise the authenticity and flavour of the dish. Carli guarantees that the dishes he prepares at the Hotel Cipriani Restaurant in Rio are as identical as possible to those found at the Cipriani in Venice.
'All the dishes I serve are freshly prepared for each client. Even the pasta is made on a daily basis, something that sadly is rare in Italy today,' Carli says.
The Pergula Restaurant
At the poolside Pergula Restaurant, guests can enjoy an American/continental breakfast buffet, buffet lunch, à la carte lunch and dinner or refreshments.
Reservations are a must at peak times for the Sunday brunch, which is renowned in Rio. One of the most striking features of the brunch is the wide selection of both fresh and saltwater seafood prepared by Executive Chef Luis Incao.
Rio's contribution to Brazilian cuisine is feijoada, a stew which includes a variety of dried meat, bacon, salt pork and ribs, different sausages and, most importantly, the ear, tail and trotter of a pig. Feijoada is served with white rice, farofa (fried manioc flour), kale, sliced oranges and a hot pepper sauce. It is traditionally served for Saturday lunch.
The Copacabana Piano Bar The Copacabana Piano Bar is a sophisticated meeting place, rich with traditional charm, offering a wide selection of beverages. The service is friendly and discreet throughout.
Live piano music can be enjoyed from 07.00pm every night.
Chef's Profile - Luis Incao Luis Incao was born in 1944 in a town called Franco da Rocha in the interior of the State of São Paulo and was good enough at one time to consider a career as a professional soccer player. He opened his first restaurant at the age of 23, and in 1969 took his first international steps with a short spell in the US before moving on to Australia where he worked for almost ten years (1971 to 1980).

Leisure in Rio
Rio de Janeiro's climate is favourable for most sports. Any time of the year is ideal for a dip in the sea, walks along the beach or the forest, or any of the dozens of sports that the city has to offer.
If your preference is golf, then there are three international quality courses. Squash and tennis courts are plentiful, especially if you have access to a club. Many volleyball courts and soccer fields are set up along the beaches.
The more adventurous may fly hang gliders, paragliders, ultra lights, go deepwater diving or game fishing. Windsurfing is also very popular in Barra Beach. Surfing is done in Arpoador (Ipanema), Copacabana, parts of Barra, Recreio, Prainha and Grumari, where international competitions are held.
However, undoubtedly Rio’s greatest sporting image is linked to soccer. We hold the largest stadium in the world, Maracanã, where many memorable championships have been decided.
