With the soaring Andes as the backdrop, a far-reaching revolution is taking place in Chile's wine industry. And a handful of statuesque reds lead the way.

In recent years, the world has begun to take notice of Chile's wines. More telling are the results of the VinExpo 99, in which some 40 countries presented their finest export wines. With a total of 67 medals and 3 out of 23 double gold medals, Chilean wines as a group ranked second only to France.

Day 1. On this trip, we begin by visiting the Almaviva winery, everything that is expected of a first-class Chateau wine, a mix of the indigenous Mapuche culture of Chile with the tradition and elegance of the Rothschild's from France. We will have a tasting of the Almaviva 2002 wine. We will make our way towards Pirque, where the Concha y Toro winery awaits us with a special collection of wines ready for tasting after learning about their traditions and legends.

Amongst other wines we will taste their key product, Don Melchor, and realise why this wine has been one of the best Chilean wines for the last 15 harvests. We then have the option of going to the wine bar and tasting other wines. Our next stop will be at the Restaurant of the Origin Foundation with local and organic food in a very comfortable ambient.

Most of the gastronomic components come from the garden of the same Foundation. After this lunch we continue visiting Antiyal winery, where we will enjoy their unique organic wines, gaining an understanding of the background behind such wines. We will learn about biodynamic agriculture, where every worked natural space is respected. Finally we return to Santiago.

09:00 hrs Departure from the hotel to Almaviva Winery.

10:00 hrs Arrive to Almaviva. Wine tour and wine tasting.

12:00 hrs Visit to Concha y Toro vineyard. Wine tour and wine tasting.

13:30 hrs Lunch at a Restaurante in Pirque.

15:00 hrs Visit to Antiyal winery. Wine tour and wine tasting.

16:30 hrs Return to Santiago.

17:30 hrs Arrive to the Hotel in Santiago.
