The city of Puerto Madryn was founded in 1865 when the first white inhabitants, the Welsh, arrived to in the area. The first long lasting settlement took place with the construction of the railroad inaugurated in June, 1889, for the purpose of transporting agricultural products from the settlers from the near by valley to the port. The jump off point for the world famous Valdes Peninsula and also Pto Tomba - the Magellan Penguin rookery - Puerto Madryn is a quaint coastal town that offers a good spot for a break when transiting to or from Patagonia.

Day 2. Today is spent venturing in the Valdes Peninsula.
