Tour Itinerary
Days 1-2: Board an overnight flight to Santiago, a sophisticated, sprawling metropolis wedged between the Andes and the Pacific coast. Explore the colonial heart of the city, crest San Cristobal Hill for sweeping views of the city and then change the pace for a look at the modern uptown area and the Los Dominicos handicraft market.
Days 3-6: Fly to Calama and then drive to San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis amid the geological and archaeological wonders of the central desert. During your four Days here, explore Atacama's natural environment and the sites of pre-Columbian, colonial and contemporary cultures in the company of experienced guides. Go by four-wheel-drive vehicle, trek on foot, mountain bike or ride horseback through the stunning scenery.
Day 7: Fly to Mendoza in the heart of Argentina's wine industry, an area that produces nearly 70 percent of the country's total output.
Day 8: After a morning visit to the Mayan-inspired Catena Zapata winery and a tasting of their premium Malbecs, continue to Vistalba winery. Your afternoon is at leisure to enjoy spa and lodge facilities. Tonight's special dinner is located on the grounds of the historic Bodegas Escorihuela Gascon.
Day 9:
Fly to Buenos Aires, have dinner and watch a performance at the esteemed Esquina Carlos Gardel tango venue.
Days 10-11: While you are in the "Paris of South America," embark on a comprehensive sightseeing tour of the sights clustered around the central Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo and La Boca district. You have ample leisure time to explore on your own.
Days 12-14: Travel to the end of the world between the lakes, woods, mountains and glaciers of El Calafate, including the Perito Moreno Glacier. During your visit, delight in a cruise on Lago Argentino, passing vast icebergs of various shapes and colors and towering ice-capped mountains.
Day 15: Fly back to Buenos Aires to connect with your homebound flight.
