Located within Machalilla National Park and just 10 minutes from Puerto López, Mantaraya Lodge is set amidst a vast expanse of forest and offers spectacular views over the Pacific coastline. All 15 spacious rooms are simply but attractively furnished with tiled floors and ceiling fans. Cocktails can be enjoyed around the swimming pool whilst appreciating the magnificent sunsets.

There is also a small restaurant serving a particularly good range of fish dishes and a cosy nautically themed bar. An appealing property in a tranquil setting.

Day 1. Arrive Quito and transfer to hotel

Day 2. Flight from Quito to Manta or Portoviejo. Arrival and immediate departure by bus to Machalilla National Park, visiting on the way the Montecristi village, famous "Panama Hats" manufacturers. Accommodation at Mantaraya Lodge. Lunch, and in the afternoon, visit to the Salango Museum. Back to the hotel, briefing and dinner.

Day 3. Breakfast. Full day visit to Isla de la Plata. Walk on trails. Box lunch. Swimming and snorkeling. Sailing back to Puerto López to Mantaraya Lodge, briefing and dinner.

Day 4. Breakfast. Visit to the in situ archaeological Museum of Agua Blanca. Lunch. Visit to Los Frailes beach (snorkel). Back to Mantaraya Lodge, briefing and dinner.

Day 5. Breakfast. Visit to the Ayampe River rain forest. Lunch. Visit to La Playita (snorkel). Back to Mantaraya Lodge, briefing and dinner.

Day 6. After breakfast, visit to Salango beach (snorkel). Lunch and early departure by bus to Portoviejo or Manta to take the return flight to Quito.

Day 7. Depart for home
