Itinerary
Day 1: Depart USA Begin your holiday with an overnight flight to Argentina.
Day 2: Arrive Buenos Aires Welcome to Buenos Aires, with its grand Parisian-style boulevards and pulsating tango nightlife. You are met on arrival and transferred to your deluxe hotel near the elegant Recoleta and Plaza San Martin. Sofitel Buenos Aires
Day 3: Buenos Aires Take in the city highlights on a morning tour, from the Presidential Palace to La Recoleta cemetery, and La Boca Italian neighborhood with its bright fishermen’s houses and artists’ quarter. Day 4: Buenos Aires / El Calafate Fly to El Calafate on the shores of Lago Argentino, amid mountains, glaciers and beech forests. You are transferred to your lodge, located on the eastern face of Mt. Frías. Settle in and enjoy sumptuous suite accommodations, with private sitting room, and views of La Anita Valley, Lake Argentina, Torres del Paine or the Rico Branch. Set within a 3000 hectare private property in the Argentine Patagonian region, Eolo also features a wine bar, library, handicrafts room, internet connectivity, sauna room and an indoor heated pool. Day 5 & 6: El Calafate Enjoy lectures on glaciology, local flora and fauna and listen to stories of pioneers and local legends. Included activities and guided excursions are birdwatching, mountain biking, horseback rides or hikes on Mt. Frías, and a thrilling excursion into Los Glaciers National Park to one of the must-see destinations of South America, Perito Moreno Glacier, a massive wall of ice cracking and falling 200 feet to the surface of Lago Argentina. Day 7-10: Torres del Paine National Park, Chile Transfer to the Chilean border and continue to Explora Salto Chico on Lake Pehoe, facing the magnificent, wind-sculpted spires of Torres Del Paine National Park. Here in one of the wildest, most ruggedly beautiful and unspoiled settings on earth, Explora provides guests every opportunity and tool by which to experience the wilderness in their own personally meaningful and enjoyable way, complemented by sophisticated and stylish surroundings to enjoy between explorations. Day 11: Torres del Paine / Punta Arenas / Puerto Varas Set out overland to Punta Arenas and fly to the seaport of Puerto Montt, and transfer to your hotel on Lake Llanquihue, facing Osorno Volcano. Cabanas del Lago (B)
Day 12: Andean Lake Crossing to Bariloche, Argentina A day of glorious alpine scenery begins with a motorcoach crossing of the Continental Divide to the Argentine border, then on to Puerto Frias for a cruise to Puerto Blest. A catamaran crossing of Lake Nahuel Huapi concludes a classic Chile-Argentine lake crossing that is one of the world’s great travel “musts”. Llao Llao – studio lake view room (B,L)
Day 13: Bariloche Today is left open for you to enjoy your resort’s spa and leisure activities, or venture into the picturesque village to shop and explore. Or take an optional tour to nearby lakes and forests. Llao Llao – studio lake view room (B)
Day 14: Bariloche / Depart to USA Enjoy a half-day tour explores the “Switzerland of South America”. Weave through awesome mountain scenery to the glacial lakes, gorges, rivers and peaks of Nahuel Huapi National Park, Llao-Llao village, and the Cerro Lopez. Afterwards, transfer to the airport and fly to Buenos Aires to connect with your overnight flight to the USA. (B)
