To the chagrin of sophisticated travelers everywhere, there has never been a truly luxurious way to explore the far reaches of the vast Amazon Basin...until now. The debut of the super-deluxe M/V Aqua means that discerning travelers can now comfortably sail the waterways of the mighty Amazon in style -- this trip includes four nights on board the boat as well as time in the more famous highlights of Peru like Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. Start with two nights in Lima, where you will take an introductory tour of Peru’s busy capital city. The next day, fly to remote Iquitos in northeast Peru and board the M/V Aqua; spend three full days exploring the Amazon on guided daily excursions that will showcase the diversity of the Amazon’s plant and wildlife. When the cruise concludes, fly to Cusco; with its cobblestone streets and lively restaurants and nightlife, charming Cusco is many visitors’ favorite spot in Peru. From Cusco, drive through the Sacred Valley, where many archaeological treasures from Incan civilization await discovery -– including the circular terraces of Moray and the old trading town of Maras. Finally, ride the Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu and explore the magical stone ruins hidden high in the misty hills. Spend a final night in Cusco before returning to Lima to catch your international departure flight.
