Itinerary

Day 1 Fly USA to Sydney

Please note international air from the USA has not been included in the package price.

Day 2 You cross the International Date Line

The International Date Line is an imaginary line on the earth’s surface that approximately coincides with the 180th meridian (LONGITUDE), and separates the calendar date. Traveling east across the line takes the traveler back one day; traveling west takes the traveler forward one day.

Day 3 Welcome to Sydney, Australia

On arrival into Sydney you will need to clear customs and immigration before making your way through to the main arrivals hall.  You will be met and transferred to your city accommodation.

Sydney - Australia's premier city is the oldest settlement in Australia, the economic powerhouse of the nation and the country's capital in everything but name. Built on the shores of the stunning Port Jackson, you would have to die and go to heaven before you see a more spectacular setting for a city. It's a vital, self-regarding metropolis, exuding both a devil-may-care urbanity and a slavish obsession with global fads.  The Sydney area was the ancestral home of the Daruk tribe, whose territory extended from Botany Bay to Pittwater.

There are some 2000 Aboriginal rock engraving sites in the Sydney area, and many of Sydney's suburbs have Aboriginal names. The city of Sydney began life as a penal colony in 1788 and for the next 60 years received the unwanted, persecuted and criminal elements of British society. Despite its brutal beginnings, the city's mixture of pragmatic egalitarianism and plain indifference has transformed it into a thriving multicultural society. Sydney now attracts the majority of Australia's immigrants and the city's predominantly Anglo-Irish heritage has been revitalized by large influxes of Italian, Lebanese, Turkish, Greek, Chinese and Vietnamese.

Day 4 Tour - Blue Mountains full day tour

On today’s Blue Mountains excursion, we stop at a Wildlife Park, where you have the opportunity to have your photo taken with a koala, and to see Australian animals and reptiles, such as crocodiles, kangaroos, goannas and possums.  At the Blue Mountains National Park, enjoy a stroll through the bush, a visit to historic Katoomba, and time an optional ride on the world's steepest railway, the Skyway Cable Car or the Sceniscender Cable Car (rides at own expense).

See scenic echo point, and learn about the 'blue haze' effect, giving the region its name.  There are excellent photo opportunities of the Three Sisters rock formation, and spectacular views of Jamison and Megalong valleys, with a return to the city via Sydney's Olympic Site.   Lunch is included today.

Days 5-7 At leisure, Sydney

At your leisure to explore Sydney. Most of the major attractions of the city are within easy walking distance of your accommodation - Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbour, Centrepoint Tower, Circular Quay, The Rocks etc.

Day 8 Fly Sydney to Papeete

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Papeete. During your flight, you will re-cross the International Date Line, arriving into Papeete late in the evening of the day prior.   After an overnight stay in Papeete, you will fly to Moorea, and transfer to your accommodation.

Less than 10 minutes away from Tahiti by air or less than one hour by ferry are the deep, spectacular bays and white sand beaches of Moorea. The craggy volcanic peaks, reflected in the tranquil waters of Cook's Bay and Oponohu Bay, rise like a shark's jaw from the island's basaltic base. The lush mountain slopes are covered with rain forest or pineapple plantations, and white sand beaches border crystalline lagoons.

Only 40 miles around on a well paved road along the shore, this dramatic and lush island can easily be circled by car, scooter or on bicycle for the more physically inclined. You can also enjoy horseback riding along the beach or the interior, hikes to hidden waterfalls or visit the Belvedere's very spectacular scenic view point.  For a traditional Tahitian Show, go to the Tiki Village where you will enjoy a memorable lagoon-side dinner and show.

There is no town to speak-of on Moorea, but you will find a few areas along the road with clusters of shops selling miscellaneous goods, local crafts and colorful hand printed fabrics (pareos). A few black pearl shops can be found on the island, but we recommend Island Fashion Black Pearls near Cook's Bay. It is run by Ron Hall, a friendly American expatriates who knows his stuff and offers a good selection of quality pearls at very competitive prices.

Day 9 Tour - Half day Belvedere excursion

Travel along the shore to the valley of Opunohu, then up the valley through the plantation of fruit trees, flowers and the nursery of the Agriculture Technical College.  Along the way, a stop is made at one of the ancient Marae (religious temple), then continue to Belvedere Point, where you experience a magnificent view overlooking the Cook and Oponohu Bays. Return through the pineapple plantation before arriving at the village of Cook Bay, then stop in the village of Papetoai.  This is where English missionaries lived and built the first printing press, published a bible in Tahitian, baptized their first convert and performed the first Christian marriage ceremony.  The octagonal church built in 1829 is still used today.

Days 10 At leisure, Moorea

If you're in the mood for adventure, choose from a number of activities including sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, jetskiing, waterskiing and windsurfing. If you want to get wet and experience the Polynesian waters right away, try a water sport. You will discover that Moorea is a South Sea Island playground worthy of your attention! Or simply indulge in some serious relaxation.

Day 11 Fly Moorea to Bora Bora

Please wait in the hotel lobby area for your transfer to Papeete airport for your flight to Bora Bora. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your accommodation by boat.

Bora Bora - Unquestionably the most mythical of the Pacific islands remains the island of all dreams. So much has been written about Bora Bora, and yet it is hard to find the right words to describe the magic that emanates from this island.

Seen from the air, the view has been compared to that of "a tiny emerald in a setting of turquoise, encircled by a sheltering necklace of sparkling pearls". The airport, built by US forces in 1942, is located on a palm fringed motu about 20 minutes by boat from the main village of Vaitape. The view of the main island from the airport is truly breathtaking, and as you travel across the spectacular lagoon you will soon understand why it is the main area of attraction for most visitors.

Day 12 Tour – Half day Lagoonarium & Shark Feeding

Travel around the island of Bora Bora by outrigger canoe, cruising the most beautiful lagoon in the world.  A stop is made near the reef to wait for young sharks, which are attracted by the smell of fish thrown into the water.  Equipped with snorkel gear, you may enjoy the underwater view of those sharks and the colorful corals around the site.   From here the tour continues to the natural lagoonarium.  Each kind of tropical fish has their own park: Rays and sharks, turtles, giant mussels, lobsters and many varieties of multi-colored fish.  Fresh local fruits and coconut drinks will be offered, and you have time to walk around this small island, before the return to your hotel.

Day 13 At leisure, Bora Bora

This island offers a multitude of activities and excursions, one of the most popular being the shark's "breakfast" where from chest-deep water you watch local divers feed 4' to 5' reef sharks by hand. It's a lot of fun and totally safe. The same routine is done with a large group of friendly stingrays. Tourist facilities are not too numerous, and understated enough so as not to alter the landscape's beauty.

Day 14 Fly Bora Bora to USA (Via Papeete)

Say goodbye to Tahitian paradise as you transfer by boat to the airport for your return journey to the USA.
