Dates: Jan - Dec /08

Itinerary

Day 1 Fly USA to Papeete
Please note international air from the USA has not been included in the package price.
Once you clear customs and immigration, look for your name on the board.  Your Tekura Tahiti representative will assist you to the vehicle for your transfer to The Radisson Plaza Resort.
Papeete, the capital and commercial hub of French Polynesia, hosts the government offices, hospitals, banks, airline and travel agencies, boutiques and black pearl shops.  The Central Market (Marché Central) is a must, located 1 block behind the waterfront. You will see traditional Tahitian crafts, flowers, fruits, fish and other produce.  The waterfront is attractive, with a tree lined promenade along a marina with an international yachting community.

Day 2 Fly Papeete to Moorea
Please wait in the hotel lobby area for your transfer to Papeete airport for your flight to Moorea. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your accommodation.

Less than 10 minutes away from Tahiti by air or less than one hour by ferry are the deep, spectacular bays and white sand beaches of Moorea. The craggy volcanic peaks, reflected in the tranquil waters of Cook's Bay and Oponohu Bay, rise like a shark's jaw from the island's basaltic base. The lush mountain slopes are covered with rain forest or pineapple plantations, and white sand beaches border crystalline lagoons.

Only 40 miles around on a well paved road along the shore, this dramatic and lush island can easily be circled by car, scooter or on bicycle for the more physically inclined. You can also enjoy horseback riding along the beach or the interior, hikes to hidden waterfalls or visit the Belvedere's very spectacular scenic view point.  For a traditional Tahitian Show, go to the Tiki Village where you will enjoy a memorable lagoon-side dinner and show.

There is no town to speak-of on Moorea, but you will find a few areas along the road with clusters of shops selling miscellaneous goods, local crafts and colorful hand printed fabrics (pareos). A few black pearl shops can be found on the island, but we recommend Island Fashion Black Pearls near Cook's Bay. It is run by Ron Hall, a friendly American expatriates who knows his stuff and offers a good selection of quality pearls at very competitive prices.

Day 3 Tour – Moorea half day circle island tour with Belvedere
Moorea, which means 'Yellow Lizard' in Tahitian, is a triangular island and the northern side is punctuated by two large bays – Cooks and Opunohu. Stop at a Pineapple plantation to learn about this famous and most important resource on Moorea. Continue to the Belvedere lookout area for spectacular views. En route, stop at a 'Marae' (ancient open air temple) to learn about the ancestral customs. Arrive at the Belvedere and experience the panoramic views overlooking the Cook and Oponohu Bays and over the Rotui Mountain. Also enjoy a visit to the Agricultural School and discover the variety of local fruits, trees and flowers.
Days 4 At leisure, Moorea

If you're in the mood for adventure, choose from a number of activities including sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, jetskiing, waterskiing and windsurfing. If you want to get wet and experience the Polynesian waters right away, try a water sport. You will discover that Moorea is a South Sea Island playground worthy of your attention! Or simply indulge in some serious relaxation.
Day 5 Fly Moorea to Bora Bora

Please wait in the hotel lobby area for your transfer to Papeete airport for your flight to Bora Bora. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your accommodation by boat.

Bora Bora - Unquestionably the most mythical of the Pacific islands remains the island of all dreams. So much has been written about Bora Bora, and yet it is hard to find the right words to describe the magic that emanates from this island.
Seen from the air, the view has been compared to that of "a tiny emerald in a setting of turquoise, encircled by a sheltering necklace of sparkling pearls". The airport, built by US forces in 1942, is located on a palm fringed motu about 20 minutes by boat from the main village of Vaitape. The view of the main island from the airport is truly breathtaking, and as you travel across the spectacular lagoon you will soon understand why it is the main area of attraction for most visitors.

Day 6 Tour – Full day Lagoonarium & Shark Feeding
Travel around the island of Bora Bora by outrigger canoe, cruising the most beautiful lagoon in the world.  A stop is made near the reef to wait for young sharks, which are attracted by the smell of fish thrown into the water.  Equipped with snorkel gear, you may enjoy the underwater view of those sharks and the colorful corals around the site.   From here the tour continues to the natural lagoonarium.  Each kind of tropical fish has their own park: Rays and sharks, turtles, giant mussels, lobsters and many varieties of multi-colored fish.  Fresh local fruits and coconut drinks will be offered, and you have time to walk around this small island, before the return to your hotel.

Day 7 At leisure, Bora Bora
This island offers a multitude of activities and excursions, one of the most popular being the shark's "breakfast" where from chest-deep water you watch local divers feed 4' to 5' reef sharks by hand. It's a lot of fun and totally safe. The same routine is done with a large group of friendly stingrays. Tourist facilities are not too numerous, and understated enough so as not to alter the landscape's beauty.

Day 8 Fly Bora Bora to Rangiroa
Depart Bora Bora and transfer by boat to the airport for your flight to Rangiroa.  On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.
Rangiroa, the second largest atoll in the world is about an hour away by air from Tahiti but at the heart of the Tuamotu Archipelago, is known throughout the world for the beauty of its lagoon and the richly abundant underwater flora and fauna.

Days 9-10 At leisure Rangiroa
Surrounded by two legendary bodies of water, Moana-tea (Peaceful Ocean) and Moana-uri (Wild Ocean), the main villages of Avatoru and Tiputa offer a unique look at the South Pacific lifestyle of the residents. Along the few roads, coral churches, craft centers, local restaurants, and tiny shops provide enjoyable land-based experiences to complement the many activities awaiting you in the lagoon.  Be sure to take a tour to a pearl farm during your stay.

Rangiroa's lagoon carries an astounding assortment of marine life, which makes it a prime spot for snorkeling. L'Ile aux Recifs Beach, Papiro Point and the Mahuta area are all known for their superb snorkeling. However, you don't have to go anywhere in particular to snorkel on the atoll of Rangiroa. Just grab your mask and fins, walk out the front door of your hotel and jump in!

Rangiroa boasts such an abundance of white sand that the atoll can be described as one big beach. That said Rangiroa does have its share of officially-designated beach areas. Blue Lagoon Motu is perhaps the most popular of the beaches here. Tiputa Point has a wonderful vista point that doubles as a picnic area, while L'ile Aux Recifs is noted for its fossilized coral formations.

Located on the western end of a string of connected islands, Avatoru is where you'll find most of the island's businesses, hotels, shops and banks. Rangiroa's airport is also located here. Tiputa is a 45-minute boatride from Avatoru. Though both communities boast a similar number of government agencies, Tiputa is the main administrative community, with an infirmary, post office and town hall.

Day 11 Fly Rangiroa to USA (Via Papeete)
Say goodbye to Tahitian paradise as you transfer to the airport for your return journey to the USA.
