We had a great time on the cruise - I would have to say that the highlight was the helicopter ride and landing on the glacier - unbelievable! We had the best weather not a drop of rain and sunshine in all three ports. The only thing that the boys wished they could have done was the zip line in Icy Straight but it was sold out. We also really enjoyed the people we sat with at dinner two English couples and one of their sons who was Emily's age. All in all a great trip, Alex says he want to live in Alaska!! I am off to Dallas with Emily for orientation etc at SMU, it never ends but after that I should have a quiet July. We had a great time (except for the storm on the first night) and lots of sunshine. The ship was beautiful and clean at all times. Being novice travelers we failed to take advantage of all the VIP amenities that were available to us. We enjoyed our large suite but did not realize that our patio door could only be open when we were in port. We got brave and opened it when we were in Glacier Bay. All the other cabins were opened, too so I guess that was OK! We decided that we prefer meal times more than Freestyle Cruising. It is fun to meet people at dinner and get to know your wait staff. There were only 4 places to eat on "THE PEARL" that did not charge a surcharge. You had to have reservations at the other places and they were often booked up. Also there was only one dining area that was open 24 hours and it did not have comfort foods (like pizza, burgers, French fries, ice cream, sandwiches, etc.) that you sometimes get a craving for late at night or mid-afternoon. It was actually quite small considering the number of people on the cruise. The shows were excellent and we had lots of free time to just explore. We didn't see any whales or wildlife on this trip. If we go back to Alaska some day, we will definitely choose different shore excursions. Thank you for all your help and for staying in touch. We think you were super. Sharon, thank you so much. We had a fabulous trip to Italy - and may we say, the tour you planned for us (Ancient Rome) was absolutely wonderful. We had a guide by the name of Paulo who was so knowledgeable and told us so much about the Coliseum and Forum area. We would recommend him to anyone as a guide. He was outstanding.
The hotel Regina Baglioni was wonderful. The staff at the front desk and the concierges were top notch. They arranged several things for us and all of them were great. They were caring, courteous and friendly and met our every need.
We met several people from Chicago while in Rome and it was fun comparing notes.

The over water bungalow was fabulous we had the bungalow furthest out in the water. We did alot of the activities ie: swimming with the sharks and rays, the safari and much more. All the arrangements worked out great. We loved the Hilton Waikoloa Village, the Hotel grounds are very beautiful, the Lagoon tower was really convenient to the swimming pools and all the other options. We were really impressed with the caves and the waterfalls. I would have liked a brighter Bathroom, the lighting was not very good, but it was functional and there was a place for everything. All in all it was an amazing experience. The breakfast in both Hotels was wonderful, and quite a saving at having it included in the room price.
The best on the Big Island was the Helicopter tour, what an experience, so glad we did not cancel.
The dinner cruises were both very good, the food was excellent on both.
Also the Luau in Lahaina was fantastic, the show was wonderful, the food was good. I was a little disappointed in the pork, it was stringy and dry, but plenty to drink, and the staff was great.
What can I say about the Fairmont, except it exceeded our expectations !!! What a wonderful Hotel, we did not want to leave.
Thank you for arranging all those extras, the basket with Macadamia nuts,sodas,juice,popcorn and cookies was great, as was the bottle of Korbel and a Hawaiian Gold Pinapple,with Happy Birthday wishes. All in all it made me feel very special.
