The Stafford Hotel Resort Guv'nor's Suite

hey say an Englishman's home is his castle - but then they haven't seen the Guv'nor's Suite at The Stafford. A fully air-conditioned, deluxe, two-storey suite that combines comfort and space with an elegant English style - the trademarks of The Stafford. On the ground floor, an inviting lounge leads through to the library / dining room where you can entertain your guests for dinner. Above the lounge, a minstrel's gallery opens out into a king-size bedroom and a 22-foot-high feature window. The suite boasts two bathrooms - one with a multi-jet shower room. The suite also boasts a fully fitted kitchen, so why not allow our Executive Chef to prepare dinner served in the privacy of your own suite with your own personal butler? Staying in touch is easy as you'll have four separate incoming telephone lines, high-speed wireless Internet access, US-style plugs, as well as a personal fax.

Carriage House Rooms

A truly unique feature - 13 beautifully restored suites and bedrooms in the 17th century stable courtyard.

The stables were built to house the thoroughbreds of the nobility and were painstakingly converted in 1990 to ensure that the design and decor retained the natural character. All of the rooms feature original timber beams, thought to have been reclaimed from old sailing ships in the 1750s!!

Filled with English furniture and period pieces, the Carriage House rooms have all the up-to-the-minute amenities, including CD players, fax lines, US-style plugs, in-room safes and private bathrooms. In the summer months the balconies are filled with scented English blooms, and in the winter the sight of individually decorated Christmas trees outside each door is magical.

Accommodation at The Stafford includes membership to 'The Third Space', a state of the art fitness club located a ten-minute walk away. Facilities include a swimming pool, Hypoxic Chamber, Cardio Floor, Resistance Floor, Free Weights, Boxing Ring, Pilates Studio, Exercise Studio, Climbing Wall, Medical Centre and Entertainment.

Great food and wines play a large part in any stay at The Stafford. An award-winning kitchen team, headed by Executive Chef Mark Budd, create a range of modern, British and classical dishes to tempt all palates. Recent accolades include rosettes from the Automobile Association and a fine dining award from Condé Nast's Gourmet magazine. In August 2006 Mark was accepted as a member of The Academy of Culinary Arts, an organisation which takes a great interest in developing and encouraging young people to work in the industry.

The Restaurant

The Automobile Association has awarded the hotel 2 Red Rosettes for it's food since 1997. Only hotels offering the highest international standards of cuisine and service merit the award, and The Stafford is one of just five hotels in London to achieve this recognition.

American Bar

The American Bar is small and definitely well lived in - but really does have a worldwide reputation. Hundreds of signed celebrity photographs crowd the walls, and the ceiling is hung with a colourful collection of club ties, sporting mementoes and baseball caps. The bar is a confirmed favourite of American guests - one regular, Mrs Peggy Clare, has even catalogued the impressive collection in a book called Ties That Bind.

With four Private Rooms and the unique Cellars, The Stafford, right in the heart of central London is one of London's most exclusive fine dining experiences.

Fully air-conditioned, each room incorporates late Victorian marble fireplaces, with original cornices and panelling, perfect for a private meeting, elegant cocktail reception or an intimate dinner, from 4 to 44 guests. The ultimate setting for a most memorable occasion.

The Cellars

A unique venue for your entertaining or celebrations. Any visit to The Stafford Cellars starts with a walk through the extensive collection of fine, vintage wines - all housed in the original stone vaulted bins.

The Central Chamber looks stunning - picture a 30' oval table, clothed with crisp white linen and adorned with candelabras and floral decorations. The fine crystal glasses and polished silver tableware sparkle in the candlelight. Who could fail to be enchanted by this scene?

The Cellars have been hired by as few as two (with a string quartet, vintage champagne and a dozen red roses) and as many as 40 for a retirement celebration.

You could not find a better host for a wine tasting than The Stafford's Master Sommelier; Gino Nardella, who has been at The Stafford since 1970 . The family-owned vineyard in southern France means that Gino really has grown up in the trade.

Tasting at The Stafford can be as formal, or informal, as you like - and the level can go from absolute beginner to advanced. You can even choose the country, region or grape-type for your tasting.

The tasting area has been carefully designed to ensure that the qualities of each wine can be observed, smelt and tasted - with special lighting and temperature controls.
