Lansdowne Suite  The elegant Lansdowne Apartment offers the opportunity for a small party or family to enjoy a fully equipped, private suite apartment offering up to three bedrooms. This impressive deluxe residence has its own Georgian style private entrance with semi tropical landscaped paths. As you enter through the hall door, the spacious reception and hall area also has a discreet cloakroom and guest washroom. The hallway leads into a beautiful lounge furnished with deep sofas and an open fireplace. Presidential Suite  The Presidential Suite heralds the arrival of a new level of luxury accommodations within the 5 star hotel market in Ireland. The Presidential Suite is truly exceptional. It is the epitome of comfort with 1,350 square feet (125 square metres) of carefully designed space. Architecturally it is stunning. The octagonal shaped drawing room with its twenty foot high ceiling leading up to an oculis is a unique space to be enjoyed. Large windows cover half the wall space in the room looking out on panoramic views including Kenmare Bay in the distance, the Sheen river flowing over the cascading waterfalls and the old 16th century stone bridge. A white limestone fireplace burns wood cut from the coppicing of the surrounding woodlands, its colour contrasting with the dark Jatoba wood floor. The private bar area is stylishly incorporated into the room, the perfect location to entertain or to enjoy the elegant grandeur of the room as you sip a cocktail and listen to gentle music on the Bang & Olufsen surround system. The Green  The Green is a self catering residence with magnificent views overlooking Kenmare Bay and the 16th Green of Kenmare Golf Course. As you gaze out the front windows of the house, the scene upon which you can feast your eyes is the highest mountain range in Ireland, the McGillicuddy Reeks, which tower over the picturesque town of Kenmare and Kenmare Bay. As one enters 'The Green' it is immediately apparent that this house is a part of Sheen Falls Lodge, the soft hues and tones in the furniture and fabrics reminds one of the colours of the hotel. The quality of the finish and furnishings is reminiscent of the lounges and rooms at Sheen Falls Lodge, yet this can all be enjoyed at 'The Green' with a certain independence and privacy. Villa Rentals Spacious guest rooms and suites all affording superb views of either the tranquil Kenmare Bay or the cascading Sheen waterfalls. The deluxe accommodations in the Sheen Falls Lodge offer the guests luxury and comfort in the south West of Ireland. Little Hay Cottage  Little Hay Cottage a most enchanting two storey thatched residence on the estate of Sheen Falls Lodge with the option to included the adjoining guest accommodation at Garden Cottage. Surrounded by an acre of private garden with stunning views of Kenmare Bay the cottages make for an idyllic retreat for one or four couples that wish to explore and enjoy the South West of Ireland. Everything about Little Hay cottage is designed with the guest's ultimate comfort in mind, it is tasteful in its décor, stylish in its choice of furnishings and fabrics and creative in its use of natural light. Garden Cottage  Garden Cottage has the same spacious bedroom configuration as Little Hay with entrance hallway to a cosy lounge with kitchenette where guests can enjoy the most stunning view onto Kenmare Bay. The entrance to Garden Cottage is only a few steps away from Little Hay, yet it is practically hidden from view, as it is built from a lower elevation and is only single storey. Nevertheless you know you are approaching something quite special as you descend towards its entrance, firstly you are drawn to the sound of what appears to be a mini waterfall but is a simple design feature, but an effective one, as water flows down over what remains of a high mass of rock that was excavated in order to build Garden Cottage, secondly you cannot but appreciate the skilled craftsmanship of the stone masons and the thatchers that give this cottage its unique design and character. Bay Villas  Bay Villas are a cluster of three thatched, four bedroom villas, each situated in their own private grounds and accessed through a private gated entrance only a short stroll from Sheen Falls Lodge and with views over the Kenmare River. With a completion date of July 2007, the entrance to the Bay Villas is only a few metres from Sheen Falls Lodge. Each Villa offers four spacious double bedrooms which can offer twin beds or a king-size bed, spacious marble bathrooms with walk in shower and bathtub. Two of the bedrooms open out onto private patios where guests can sit back, relax and enjoy the unrivalled setting. Marianne's Cottage  Marianne's Cottage is named after the founder of Sheen Falls Lodge, Mr Bent Hoyer's wife Marianne. Its location provides guests with the most stunning views onto Kenmare Bay. From the side aspect of the house the doors open out onto a thatched terrace overlooking the wooded Queens Walk. Consider the addition of Sunset Cottage, when you have household staff accompanying your travelling. Due for completion in September 2007, Marianne's Cottage provides a haven of tranquillity to be shared with a loved one or to reminisce with friends. From the moment you enter Marianne's Cottage an air of calm will come over you; traditionally styled, with log fires, the choice of furnishings blend the interior as beautifully as the natural landscape surrounding the cottage. Both bedrooms are situated on the upper floor, feature open beam ceilings and offer either a king-size or twin beds with ensuite marble bathrooms. The master bedroom has both a step in shower and bathtub, whilst the guest bedroom has a step in shower. The bedrooms have patio doors leading out onto small private balconies. Sheen Falls Lodge Dining At Sheen Falls Lodge, there are several dining experiences available, from the elegance of La Cascade to the waterside location of Oscars or a relaxing snack in the lounges The Sun Lounge  The oldest part of the hotel, which was originally a 17th century fishing lodge, houses the Sun Lounge and Cocktail Bar. The Sun Lounge is so named because the morning sun pours into this room filling it with light and ensuring that it becomes the natural area for people to gather to read the newspapers and enjoy morning coffee. The waterfalls can be viewed from all of the windows and as the day progresses, our famous three tier afternoon tea service commences. In the evening, the resident pianist, Jim Kiely, tinkles the ivories both before and after dinner service, another memory by which to recall your stay with us. The Cocktail Bar  The Cocktail Bar offers a warm, club-like atmosphere with its dark wood and leather chairs.Try a famous 30 year old Irish whiskey or the latest cocktail. Mull over the selection of fine cigars in the humidor including some of the best Cubans and ease into the stylish atmosphere of this smart yet comfortable room. La Cascade  La Cascade is the elegant, classical dining room at Sheen Falls Lodge recently awarded Three Rosettes from the AA with a distinctive style of its own. The high ceilings and vast windows overlooking the Sheen waterfalls ensure that the panorama can be enjoyed by all. In the early morning, as breakfast is served, the warm cream and beige tones of the room are softly lit up by the sunshine which floods in. Then as the evening light changes and dusk approaches, the waiting staff move quietly and calmly through the room, lighting the individual candles at each table, preparing the room for the event of dinner. The flowers in the silver bud vases are all checked, the silver and crystal finally polished before the doors open and evening service commences. Oscar's Bar and Bistro  The informal yet stunning setting of Oscar's is a treat to be discovered. With the spectacular views of the waterfalls and surrounding woodlands, the bar and bistro is the perfect setting in which to unwind as you look out onto the enchantingly lit waterfalls. The bar has a nautical theme with old sea fishing memorabilia furnishing the room giving one a sense of the importance of this livelihood to the local area in the past and in the present. The terrace outside of Oscar's is the closest point of the hotel to the waterfalls and it is a perfect spot to relax whilst gazing upstream at the symmetrical bridge built in 1777. The Wine Cellar  Sheen Falls Lodge is home to the largest public wine cellar in Ireland, a fact of which we are unashamedly proud. The Cellar contains over 10,000 bottles of wine, with up to 950 labels from 17 countries at any one time. The location of the cellar ensures that as one descends the staircase to the cooler air, there is a feeling of entering a very special part of the hotel. The innumerable bottles are stacked high in a series of brick alcoves and in the evening, the lights are turned down and candles are lit lending a very authentic feel as guests wander through selecting wines for their meal. The Library  The luxury of having one room devoted entirely to books! The Library at Sheen Falls Lodge is a beautiful room decorated in deep, warm red and green colours thus lending it a calm, quiet air. The fire is lit every day and the warmth of the hearth with the comfortable leather sofas around it invite you in. As you meander around the room and gaze at all of the different titles, you will see that the choice ranges from the great Irish authors such as Samuel Beckett and James Joyce to Umberto Eco and Isabel Allende. The Billiard Room  Although the Sheen waterfalls are proclaimed by many to be the only view at Sheen Falls Lodge, there is another. Kenmare Bay offers a lovely, picturesque view which can be enjoyed from the Billiard Room with its large bay window. A full championship size billiards table fills the room and a card table and chess set complete the amenities which can be enjoyed here. Fishing  Sheen Falls Lodge - Fishing Options For the 2007 season, the Sheen River is closed to fishing. This closure will enable the stock in the river to be replenish and we are confident that our private beat will come back to us ready for the 2008 fishing season. Whilst we appreciate that this will disappoint some of our guests, we have sourced alternative venues where fishing is permitted for this season. Our resident ghillie can assist guests in planning their fishing trips. Guests should contact The Health Club to make arrangements. Horse Riding  Countryside Trek at River Valley Riding Stables For horse riding enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the breathtaking countryside around Kenmare and Kilgarvan on horseback is a true delight. This relaxing, leisurely trek, of one or two hours, with a qualified horse riding instructor, follows a winding trek in the Kilgarvan countryside into the surrounding hills and forests and through the beautiful Roughty River Valley. River Valley Riding Stables are located approximatley 15 minutes drive from the Lodge. Clay Pigeon Shooting  Sheen Falls Lodge is home to private shooting grounds on a scenic, elevated, woodland site on the Estate, proffering exquisite views over Kenmare Bay and its environs. Clay pigeon shooting is a thrilling experience, demanding calm concentration, a keen eye and quick reactions. Perfect your aim, time your shots and soon you will be an expert marksman. Walking  Sheen Falls Lodge offers an exceptionally relaxing and luxurious base for a memorable walking holiday in a stunning location. Ramble through some of Ireland's most beautiful and rugged scenic locations, accompanied by experienced walking guides who possess an intimate knowledge of the surrounding landscape and its superb selection of walking routes. Walks range from the more relaxed routes through to the more challenging, depending on your requirements. For the rambler, Kenmare's enviable position allows easy access to both the Beara and Iveragh peninsulas with Ireland's two premier long-distance walking routes, the Kerry Way and the Beara Way Gardens  Home to many native species, the gardens thrive in the Gulf Stream-warmed climate of Kenmare and its environs Queen's Walk This pleasant 19th century plantation is a gem hidden within the 300-acre Estate of Sheen Falls Lodge, planted for Queen Victoria in anticipation of her visit to the area in 1861. Old and rare varieties of rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias sit alongside Iris Japonica and giant fern trees, creating a unique, lingering scent. The flora and fauna, home to many a native specie, thrive in the Gulf Stream-warmed climate of Kenmare and its environs. Bicycle Tours  Cyclists mount at Sheen Falls Lodge, and travel the coastal Castletownbere road, on the treasured 'Ring of Beara'. This wonderful scenic road meanders through hazelnut and pine-scented woods, fresh meadows and fields with spectacular views of the Kenmare Bay. Seven miles of cycling, the tour takes a turn into 'Gleninchaquinn' valley where, after a brief repose at the magnificent Clonee lakes, the tour continues the 3- mile ascent to the peak of the valley. Vintage Cars  Sheen Falls Lodge is home to a number of exquisite vintage cars adding to the hotel's unique charm. The valuable collection includes a 1990 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit 11 and a 1936 Buick Roadmaster, and are on view at the Lodge for our guests to enjoy. Tennis  Enjoy a game of tennis, competitive or relaxing, on the grounds of the Lodge. Our all weather floodlit Savannah tennis court is ideally placed overlooking Kenmare Bay offering superb views of the ebbing tide and the local wildlife as you play. Tennis originated in France before the 12th century and this ancient game is still as much fun to play now as it was then. The exercise and exhilaration of a good game of doubles or pitting yourself one against the other is genuinely enjoyable. The rush of playing an ace shot straight down the line ensures a good story for later that evening. Reserve your preferred time through our Leisure Centre where you can also obtain all the necessary equipment. Golf The county of Kerry must be every golfer's paradise. Some of the golf courses are set amidst tranquil woodland with lakes giving beautiful reflections on still days; others enjoy breathtaking views over sea and strand with the benefit of invigorating sea air. For the romantic, there is no better place to play golf. For the ambitious, satisfaction will also be found in the challenge of playing some of the finest courses in Europe which lie waiting to offer tough resistance to those who plan a good score card. The Ring of Kerry Golf and Country Club  The Ring of Kerry Golf & Country Club has established itself as a "must play" golf course which has become one of the most beautiful & challenging courses in Ireland. The course is tucked between the heather covered Doha Mountains to the South and the McGillicuddy Reeks to the North and has magnificent views of the Kenmare river estuary, which can be admired from the panoramic image above. This scenic PGA standard course, originally designed by Eddie Hackett, has recently upgraed its restaurant and bar area and has just completed the construction of a driving range. Kenmare Golf Club  Kenmare Golf Club, celebrating its centenary year in 2003, has recently completed refurbishment of its clubhouse. This 18 hole course is set alongside the quiet waters of the river Roughty estuary.
