DAYS 1-2: USA or Canada/Edinburgh, Scotland Depart by overnight flight to Edinburgh, where you are met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. The Balmoral
DAY 3: Edinburgh A full day of sightseeing with an expert local guide includes Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, the Queen's offificial residence in Scotland. End your day in Leith and visit the former royal yacht 'Britannia.' The Balmoral B
DAY 4: Edinburgh/Keith Depart from Edinburgh's Waverley railway station to begin your luxurious four-night train journey on the Royal Scotsman. Arrive in Keith, where you disembark for a traditional Scottish ceilidh (dance). Rejoin the train for an informal dinner and overnight stabling. The Royal Scotsman B D
DAY 5: Keith/Kyle of Lochalsh
Travel west to Tain for a visit and tasting at a Scotch whisky distillery. Return to the rails for the journey toward Inverness, capital of the Highlands, on what is arguably the most scenic route in Britain. Disembark at Plockton to take a boat trip with views across the Isle of Skye to the Applecross Mountains. Return to the train in Kyle of Lochalsh. The Royal Scotsman B L D
DAY 6: Kyle of Lochalsh/Boat of Garten Travel around the edge of Beauly Firth before reaching Inverness and then go by train to Carrbridge and Ballindalloch, one of Scotland's most romantic castles. Return to the train at Boat of Garten for stabling and a formal dinner. The Royal Scotsman B L D
DAY 7: Boat of Garten/Perth Choose your activity today: engage in clay pigeon shooting; take a leisurely, guided woodland walk; or fish on the River Spey. Rejoin the train and journey south through Blair Atholl and Pitlochry to Perth, where you disembark at Glamis, childhood home of the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. DAY 8: Perth/Edinburgh/Hopetoun/St. Andrews/Gleneagles Disembark in Edinburgh and continue into the Scottish countryside to Hopetoun House. Later, explore the historic university town of St. Andrews en route to your renowned hotel in the Perthshire countryside. Gleneagles B
DAY 9: Gleneagles Today is free to enjoy the facilities of the Gleneagles estate. Perhaps book an appointment with a personal trainer for a fifitness assessment, swim, play tennis or pamper yourself with a spa treatment. You may also engage in equestrian activities, golf, fishing or falconry. Your driver-guide and private vehicle are at your disposal should you decide to further explore the region. Gleneagles B
