Greywalls offers the very best of country house accommodation. As well as elegant drawing rooms, delightful dining areas and a small bar well stocked with the fines malt whiskies and cognacs, the house has 23 bedrooms each decorated and furnished individually with antiques. The character, comfort and graciousness of the main rooms is reflected in all the bedrooms. All have en-suite bathrooms and the other luxuries that one expects of a superb family run hotel. Most rooms enjoy uninterrupted views - to one side, over Muirfield and the Firth of Forth - to the other side, over the gardens and the gentle rolling farmland to the Lammermuir Hills, immortalised in Donizetti's famous opera "Lucia di Lammermoor".
The light airy dining room overlooks the 10th tee at Muirfield. Dinner at Greywalls is an elegant, formal meal with starched white linen, sparkling silver and glass and friendly, professional waiting staff. With a short regularly changing menu, the dedicated team of chefs in Greywalls uses the best fresh local produce with flair and imagination to tempt hotel guests and non-residents alike. Starters can range from poached duck egg salad, summer truffle risotto, salad of roast William pear to chicken liver and foie gras parfait with a black truffle dressing, open ravioli of West Coast crab, grilled sardines and summer tomatoes with toasted pain poilane. Main courses might include local line-caught mackerel, roast lamb served with aubergine puree, Shetland salmon with lobster broth, fillet of Aberdeen Angus beef, pommes fondant and new season Scottish girolles. A selection of favourite puddings may include lemon tart served with honeyed mascarpone, a hot chocolate fondant on cinnamon stick ice cream, spring rolls of apples and molleaux raisins, and Crannachan parfait.
East Lothian has often been called a golfer's paradise. The region's microclimate ensures more playable days than elsewhere in Scotland. Most of East Lothian's golf courses are traditional Scottish links style with undulating fairways, hidden bunkers, gorse and heather lining the fairways.
The original owner of Greywalls, the Hon. Alfred Lyttelton insisted that the house be built "within a mashie niblick shot of the eighteenth green at Muirfield". Today Greywalls sits proudly alongside the clubhouse of the world renowned Muirfield. From dining rooms and bedrooms guest look out onto the course and across this famous landscape to the Firth of Forth and the Kingdom of Fife. Head chef, David Williams, takes a special interest in Scottish cheeses which will be served in peak condition accompanied by oatcakes. As well a fine selection of wines to accompany your meal ,there is an exquisite stock of fine malt whiskies and cognacs available.

The Restaurant at Greywalls will seat 40 guests and the smaller, adjacent private dining room will seat 20 guests for a more intimate event, both offering wonderful views over Muirfield. With a midday ceremony most couples then plan a champagne reception in the sitting room and garden while photographs are taken. Lunch is served at around 1.30/2.00pm in the main dining room with coffee served afterwards in the sunroom, giving guests time again to mingle and enjoy this lovely setting. The Colonel's House, located 200 yards from the main house, forms a totally self contained venue for eight persons. Ideal for exclusive use, corporate hire or a family group it comprises four ensuite guest bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and small study.
