Tour Itinerary
Days 1-2:
Your base is Edinburgh's landmark hotel The Balmoral. Attend a private Scotch tasting at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, join a private ghost tour of the Vaults and visit Edinburgh Castle. Stop for coffee at Elephant House, where J. K. Rowling began writing the first Harry Potter novel. See Holyrood Palace and the Mansfield Traquair Centre, then visit the former Royal Yacht 'Britannia' or Rosslyn Chapel, featured in The Da Vinci Code.
Day 3:
Head into the Highlands to Glamis Castle, where a piper welcomes you for a private tour of the staterooms. Stop in Inverness and the Edradour Scotch Whisky Distillery. See the Culloden battlefield en route to Culloden House, your country house hotel.
Day 4:
Drive to Loch Ness, home of the fabled monster. Visit romantic Eilean Donan Castle in Loch Duich and drive over the bridge to the Isle of Skye, a center of Gaelic heritage. Perhaps join Lady Claire MacDonald for a highland cooking demonstration. Return by ferry to Mallaig then continue to Fort William, and spend the evening at luxurious Inverlochy Castle.
Day 5:
xplore the shops of Fort William and perhaps take the gondola up Aonach Mor Mountain. Drive into the Glencoe Valley, en route to your hotel, Isle of Eriska, located on a private island.
Day 6:
A series of ferries and roads takes you to Iona, the cradle of Christianity in Scotland. Visit the Abbey Church and burial ground of the ancient Scottish kings. Then return to Oban.
Days 7-9:
At Inverary, visit the fairytale-style castle that is home to the Duke of Argyll and continue to Crieff for a personal horticultural tour at Drummond Castle. Gleneagles Hotel is your home for these three nights. The next Day explore Stirling Castle; Rob Roy's country, the mountainous Trossachs and stop at the Glenturret Distillery, makers of Famous Grouse whisky. In Helensburgh privately tour Hill House, designed by architect Charles Rennie MacKintosh. Then, you may either visit Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute or board a seaplane for a bird's-eye view of the Trossachs National Park.
Day 10:
Transfer privately to the airport.
