Day 1: Fairbanks, Alaska Arrive in Fairbanks and transfer to Pikes Waterfront Lodge on the Chena River. This evening's welcome dinner hosted by provides the perfect setting to become better acquainted with your fellow travellers. Pike's Waterfront Lodge D
Day 2: Fairbanks/Denali National Park Board a scenic charter flight to the Denali National Park entrance. Upon arrival, embark on a tour into the heart of the park, arriving at Kantishna Roadhouse, your home for the next two nights. Along the way, your driver-naturalist introduces you to the park, its wildlife and the wild lands, making stops for wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities. Sit back and relax as you enjoy the scenery of Denali National Park. The wilderness backcountry of the park supports big-game species such as black bear, grizzly, moose, caribou, wolf and wolverine. Day 3: Denali National Park Kantishna Roadhouse features an abundance of unique opportunities for you to explore the wonders of Denali's wilderness. Each day the lodge offers hiking activities, an excellent opportunity to explore and learn about the wildlife and flora of the Kantishna Hills from one of Kantishna's experienced naturalist-guides. You can also try your hand at fly-fishing for Arctic grayling in nearby Moose Creek or, if you choose, go mountain biking to Wonder Lake or investigate the old mining roads in the area. Day 4: Denali National Park/Talkeetna Bid farewell to the lodge staff and meet your pilot for a scenic flight to the park's entrance. Fly along Mount McKinley and the awe-inspiring Alaska Range. This flight will take you to the North Face of Denali and over a number of the north side glaciers. Denali National Park features North America's highest peak, 20,320-foot Mount McKinley. The Alaska Range also includes countless other spectacular mountains and many large glaciers. Board the Alaska Railroad GoldStar Dome train to Talkeetna. Soak up panoramic views of tundra, endless mountain ranges and deep river canyons visible from the rail car's mammoth windows. Shortly after leaving Denali National Park, travel over Broad Pass, the highest point on the Alaska Railroad at 2,363 feet. Day 5: Talkeetna Experience the beauty of this remote wilderness on a canyon jet boat, river adventure. Wildlife, folklore, artifacts, adventure and majestic scenery at every turn combine to make this an unforgettable Alaskan river experience. Naturalists acquaint you with the flora that grows in abundance along the river system, and you learn about the edible plants used by the Native Indians for cooking and medicines. View nesting bald eagle, beaver, moose and, perhaps, black and grizzly bear roaming the shore. Day 6: Talkeetna/Kenai Peninsula After breakfast, depart Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge and head toward the Kenai Peninsula. Continue to the homestead and kennels of a renowned Iditarod Champion for a private tour. Listen to stories of the races and life in Alaska; then experience true Alaskan hospitality during a private lunch of regional delicacies at his home. Afterward, drive to your hotel, surrounded by towering spruce trees, mountains and a hanging glacier, with the rest of the day at leisure. Day 7: Kenai Peninsula Transfer to the town of Whittier, where you embark on a glacier cruise. Whittier is a charming seaside community on the west side of Prince William Sound, surrounded by the Chugach National Forest. Set out and explore the mountainous coastlines and massive glaciers of Prince William Sound. Keep an eye out for Alaska's signature wildlife while cruising. View spectacular Esther Passage before exploring the numerous glaciers in Barry Arm. Your cruise takes you to one of the most beautiful destinations in the Sound, Harriman Fjord. Stop at majestic Surprise Glacier. Watch for sea otter, whale, harbor seal and sea birds as you cruise in comfort aboard a custom vessel with heated cabins, picture windows and a spacious outdoor deck. You will also visit a working salmon hatchery. Enjoy a delicious Alaskan King Crab cake lunch on board. After your cruise, you will be privately transferred back to Girdwood and on to your hotel.
