Explore San Francisco on foot before sailing the bay on a 28-foot sailboat. Return to land for an afternoon racing around the track at Sonoma's Infineon Raceway and go off-road on a scenic 2,000-acre ranch/vineyard. Call on some of the local vineyards (with a specially arranged food and wine pairing luncheon) and spend a day at the Cowboy Academy, where you meet a real horse-whisperer and watch him at work. Your base for much of your journey is the prestigious Auberge du Soleil in Napa.
Tour Itinerary
DAY 1:
The charming and beautiful seaport city of San Francisco is the ideal place to begin your Tailor Made California journey. Your luxurious hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, is perfectly located in the city's historic and chic Nob Hill district, an area known for its beautiful architecture and spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay. Spend the day exploring your new neighborhood and the rest of San Francisco.
DAY 2:
Sail the open waters of the San Francisco Bay on a 28-foot sailboat under the guidance of a professional instructor. This program includes a continental breakfast and gourmet lunch with priceless views of Angel Island, the largest island in the San Francisco Bay that has housed a number of military installations over the past 100 years. You also have the opportunity to see Alcatraz, the famous prison in San Francisco Bay, and amazing views of San Francisco from the water.
DAY 3:
Experience "sporting clays" (described as golf with a shotgun) with guided instruction at a private preserve. Travel to Sonoma's Infineon Raceway for an afternoon of open-wheel racing karts that let you speed around the track. Later, travel to Napa Valley for three nights at the Auberge du Soleil, one of California wine country's most prestigious luxury inns.
DAY 4:
Go off-road through a scenic 2,000-acre ranch and vineyard. Experience the privacy of the backcountry while navigating the mountains and vineyards. Savor a food and wine-pairing luncheon; then visit a variety of unique cult wineries. If you prefer to get some exercise, you can visit the vineyards by bicycle - a great way to make this a unique experience.
DAY 5:
Attend the Cowboy Academy in the Valley of the Moon. Meet a genuine horse whisperer and participate in a hands-on experience.
DAY 6:
Return to San Francisco for your homebound flight.
