Thirty-two miles of breathtaking waters alone are enough to make you want to slip into the serenity of Alabama's Gulf Coast region and never leave. But you'll discover there is a lot more to enjoy.

Discover history aboard the USS Alabama battleship in Mobile, inside museums, antebellum mansions, historic forts and all along the new Civil War Trail. Stroll through Bellingrath Gardens. Explore Five Rivers, the visitors center on the causeway where you can catch airboat rides and rent kayaks.

Immerse yourself in resort-style living at the restored Battle House in Mobile, Marriott's Grand Hotel in Point Clear, and The Wharf in Orange Beach. Enjoy a historic drama in Monroeville, experience the distinctive shops of Foley and Fairhope, or dine out at one of the many great steak and seafood places throughout the region.

The Year of Alabama Sports beckons you to enjoy a myriad of adventures. Go deep-sea fishing in Orange Beach or sailing on Dauphin Island. Play a game of beach volleyball or toss a mullet across the state line from the beautiful white-sand beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Golf more than 25 challenging courses, including Craft Farms in Gulf Shores, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and Magnolia Grove and The Grand on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Participate in the Challenge of Champions Track Meet in Mobile or be a spectator during the Alabama Coastal Triathlon in Gulf Shores.

In city after city, you will discover that the entire region has a mystique about it that draws people, such as the thousands that visit during Mardi Gras in Mobile (January/February), the National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores (October) and the Dixie Youth baseball/softball tournaments in Thomasville (April).

Visit the American Sport Art Museum & Archives in Daphne, which offers the largest sport art collection in North America. Sit in the stands at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium, home of the Senior Bowl and GMAC Bowl in January and the Gulf Coast Classic in the fall.

Watch the Mobile Bay Bears play baseball at Hank Aaron Stadium, and see champions in the making at the Mobile Tennis Center, the world's largest public tennis facility and site of the USTA Southern Championships in July.

Once you arrive on Dauphin Island,  you will discover why many of our visitors keep returning year after year, many becoming  permanent residents. Situated just 28 miles south of Mobile, Al.,  Dauphin Island offers visitors a relaxing and “family-friendly” atmosphere.

Whether you choose a luxurious  condo, a beautiful Beach Front Home, the secluded RV park, or a quaint motel, you will find your stay relaxing and reasonably priced.

You might start out your day with coffee at the local store, where many of the Islanders  gather and are willing to give advice on fishing or places of interest. No matter what your interests are you could  find it here! We invite you to please join us and explore!!

Naturally sugar-white, clean, soft sandy beaches adorn Dauphin Island. The south side of the island faces the Gulf of Mexico surf and the north side faces the Mississippi Sound with calm and shallow waters. Both sides experience a forever changing kaleidoscope of sunrises and sunsets throughout the year, The primary public beach is located to the west of the water tower on Bienville Boulevard, near the Dauphin Island Fishing Pier. Showers and restrooms are available

This process is essential to maintaining the nursery characteristic of the estuarine ecosystems. The island is accessed from the mainland by a beautiful drive, consisting of a two and one-half mile causeway and a three-mile bridge which opened in 1982.

Standing guard between Mobile Bay and the vast Gulf of Mexico, Dauphin Island is a true barrier island-complete with dunes, maritime forests, salt marshes, tidal flats and two freshwater lakes. Named “barrier” for their role in protecting the mainland from nature's fury of storm waves, barrier islands also prevent the inflow of salt water from the Gulf into the bays and sounds by forming a physical barrier.

Dauphin Island hosts the first Mardi-Gras parade of the season in January. This is an event loved by children of all ages. Revealers often stop to hand stuffed animals to young revealers along the way. This is truly in keeping with our family oriented theme.
