Tucked away in a 171,000 acre critical habitat area, on a privately owned 5-acre property, the small, rustic Redoubt Bay Lodge sits on a knoll overlooking Big River Lakes, a chain of lakes whose waters lead to the Big River and on to Cook Inlet. Accessible by floatplane, Redoubt Bay Lodge is located 50 minutes southwest of Anchorage with unmatched views of the Cook Inlet and the western edge of the Kenai Peninsula en route.
The lodge features three small lakeside guest cabins, a cozy hand-hewn log main lodge, and world-class staff and service. Fantastic meals are served in the main lodge before adventures in the surrounding wilderness. Lodge staff have groomed prime hiking trails throughout the wilderness beyond the lodge and are talented, educated guides on the trail. Mid-May through mid-August also serve as the ultimate bear viewing months in this region. Just across the lake from Redoubt Bay Lodge, one of the densest populations of bears in the state feed on spawning salmon. View the bears by pontoon boat during this time.
Guests can also enjoy sport fishing for salmon, kayaking around the lakes, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Redoubt Bay Critical Habitat area from the expansive decks and grassy spaces surrounding the Lodge. Additional activities can also include flightseeing into Lake Clark National Park, through the Pass and to Redoubt Volcano.
